Over the past five years, the Quang Ninh Folk Arts Association has reaped many "sweet fruits" in the field of preserving and promoting the intangible cultural values of ethnic groups in the province.

Since its establishment, the Quang Ninh Folk Performing Arts Association has held three General Assemblies and currently has a total of 369 members, operating in 12 grassroots branches in districts, towns, and cities throughout the province. Focusing on strengthening the organization, over the past five years, the Association has admitted 68 new provincial-level folk performing arts members, processed applications, and received approval from the Vietnam Folk Performing Arts Association for 6 new members, bringing the total number of central-level members in Quang Ninh to 27. Simultaneously, members have established 48 clubs for collecting, teaching, and performing various forms of folk performing arts.
The Association has made many efforts in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members, supporting each other in research, collection, and effective transmission of culture and folk traditions, aiming to preserve, protect, and promote the rich and precious cultural and folk values of ethnic groups, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
The members have united, strived to overcome difficulties, and been proactive and creative in carrying out their professional tasks, building a strong association with a focus on professional activities. Accordingly, the association has completed the research project "Place Names of Quang Ninh Past and Present," published as a book; researched and collected the "Nha To" singing and "Cua Dinh" singing and dancing in Quang Ninh, contributing to the inclusion of this heritage in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. At the same time, the association completed the project "Collecting, researching, preserving and introducing the origins and distinctive culture of the Dao ethnic group in Quang Ninh," and published the book "Some Issues Regarding the Dao People of Quang Ninh."
The Quang Ninh Provincial Association of Folk Culture promptly encouraged and facilitated its members in researching, collecting, printing, and publishing 43 works on Quang Ninh's folk culture. Many of these works are valuable in the preservation, safeguarding, and promotion of national cultural identity, and many have won high awards in competitions at the central and local levels.
During its third term, the Association had 14 members awarded the title of Vietnamese Folk Artisan, bringing the total number of awarded artisans from 2009 to date to 73. Among the 73 awarded artisans, there are 2 People's Artisans and 36 Distinguished Artisans.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Folk Culture Association, said: "This is a very meticulous, dedicated, persistent, and responsible undertaking by the team of people working to collect and research traditional folk culture of ethnic groups in the province. It is also an important task to honor and preserve these 'living treasures' that are at risk of disappearing, while leaving a positive impression on the people, contributing to honoring the value of national culture; building cultural life in residential areas and building new rural areas and civilized urban areas."
Overall, the Association has assembled a team of people with extensive accumulated experience and a passion for culture and folk culture throughout the province. In particular, folk artisans and those who are preserving intangible cultural forms in the local area continue to strive and take responsibility for a civilized, friendly, warm-hearted, and culturally rich Quang Ninh.

In recognition of its achievements, the Quang Ninh Folk Arts Association received 2 commendations for the collective and 21 commendations for individuals from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, a commendation from the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Associations of Literature and Arts, and 2 commendations from the Provincial People's Committee for the collective and 2 individuals.
Building on their strengths, in the coming term, the members will strive to proactively overcome difficulties, be creative in building the Association, and consistently focus on building internal unity and cohesion; prioritizing professional activities, enhancing the Association's standing, and striving to be a worthy scientific research organization in the field of culture and folk art in the province.
Each year, the Association strives to participate in 3 provincial-level projects and 2 grassroots-level projects; collaborates with the Department of Culture and Sports to organize the "Searching for Love Songs" Festival, the 2nd Festival of Singing and Dancing at Temple Gates, publishes 10 folk culture works, and aims to have collections of folk culture works commensurate with the potential and position of the province. At the same time, it proposes policies to reward and care for artisans, and recruits 30 to 40 new members to the Provincial Folk Culture Association and 5 to 10 new members to the Vietnam Folk Culture Association each year.
