Opportunities for seasonal workers
The Lunar New Year is always a "golden" time for workers to increase their income due to the surge in consumer demand, shopping, and services. According to surveys, the year-end seasonal labor market in the city is gradually becoming more vibrant, with increasing recruitment needs across various sectors, businesses, and individual households.
The sectors with the highest demand for seasonal workers remain the transportation industry, especially during peak season when orders surge. Meanwhile, many businesses need to hire additional seasonal workers for loading, sorting, and delivery tasks to ensure timely completion before the Lunar New Year holiday.
Restaurants, eateries, year-end party services, tourism ... are also operating at full capacity, leading to a high demand for service staff, kitchen assistants, receptionists, and support and consulting personnel. In the manufacturing sector, many businesses are accelerating the completion of year-end orders, choosing seasonal workers to increase output without incurring long-term costs.
At this time, many students at universities and colleges in the city have chosen to stay and work part-time instead of returning home early for the Tet holiday. Surveys show that the most popular jobs include cashier positions, product arrangement, gift wrapping, warehouse work at supermarkets/stores; ride-hailing services (Grab, Gojek), delivery drivers; assisting with selling apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, and kumquats; decorating and caring for ornamental plants for Tet at plant nurseries; or seasonal jobs such as kitchen assistant or restaurant/eatery server...
Student Dinh Van Vy (from the University of Technology, Da Nang University) chose to work as a sales assistant at an electronics supermarket on Au Co Street (Lien Chieu Ward) when the supermarket announced it was recruiting temporary staff for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. Vy's daily work involves helping with cleaning and carrying products to serve customers shopping at the supermarket. "I've been working at the supermarket for over two weeks now, earning 4-6 million VND per month before Tet, enough to cover expenses and help my family," Vy confided.
Meanwhile, at Tuyet's shop (Trung Nu Vuong Street, Hoa Cuong Ward), which specializes in cosmetics and Tet holiday gifts, there are currently three new employees assisting with sales and delivering goods as requested by customers. Do Thi Mai Hoa, a student from Da Nang University of Education, who recently started working at Tuyet's shop, said that this temporary job will last until just before Tet. For two months assisting with sales at the counter, Mai Hoa is paid 8 million VND.
Wait until the peak season
Information from long-term and seasonal labor supply agencies in the city indicates that the demand for seasonal workers has not yet reached its peak. The most frequently recruited positions remain delivery, transportation, gift wrapping, and house cleaning.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc, Director of Novoking Cleaning Services Company (169 Ton Dan Street, An Khe Ward), said that typically, the demand for seasonal workers increases by 30-40% before the Lunar New Year compared to normal days. Currently, the company provides seasonal and monthly labor services to businesses and construction projects with an average salary of 350,000-400,000 VND per day.
At the Tam Nguyen ginger tea production facility, there are currently about 7 seasonal workers specializing in manual tasks such as peeling and cutting ginger, and arranging and transporting goods, earning 6-7 million VND per month during the Tet holiday season. Ms. Le Thi Mai (65 years old, a worker at the Tam Nguyen ginger tea facility) said that every year, about two months before the Lunar New Year, when the Tam Nguyen tea production facility announces job openings, she immediately applies. The daily work starts at 7 am and ends around 5 pm; the assigned tasks are not too strenuous, so Ms. Mai has been working at the facility for almost 6 years.
"Throughout the year, my family specializes in wholesaling vegetables to traders in local markets. During Tet (Lunar New Year), I both grow vegetables and earn extra income through seasonal work, so I manage to save a little for the holiday," Mrs. Mai shared.
With years of experience in providing long-term and seasonal labor services, Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc advises workers to be cautious when registering for seasonal work, especially through social media, to avoid scams. The most common scams involve requiring workers to pay a deposit to reserve a spot, purchase uniforms, work permits, or to secure their application documents. Workers seeking seasonal work should go to agencies with physical offices, and if registering online, they should verify the information in person afterward.
“Currently, we mainly provide seasonal labor services such as industrial cleaning packages, house cleaning, and company cleaning during the Tet holiday with the above-mentioned wages. Besides our existing workforce, we also recruit additional unskilled laborers and freelancers from outside to ensure a consistent labor supply,” said Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc.
