Vardy leaves Leicester

The English striker has confirmed he will leave Leicester City at the end of this season after 13 years with the club.

In a video posted on his personal page on the afternoon of April 24th, Vardy shared: "This is something I've thought about and discussed with my family. I think it's time to make a decision. I will be very sad on my last day at the club, but good things must come to an end. I've had many great moments at this club, with many successes, and also some difficult times, but mostly they are beautiful memories."

Vardy confirmed his departure from Leicester City after the Foxes were officially relegated, just one year after returning to the Premier League. The former Fleetwood Town striker helped Leicester win their historic Premier League title in the 2015/16 season. At that time, Vardy had a breakout performance, scoring 24 goals under manager Claudio Ranieri.

Vardy scored a total of 198 goals in 498 appearances for Leicester, becoming the club's all-time leading scorer in Premier League history. He also contributed to Leicester's FA Cup victory in 2021, defeating Chelsea at Wembley.

This season, Vardy has scored 8 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for Leicester. The burden of age has prevented the striker from consistently shining at King Power Stadium.

Following Vardy, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy also faces the risk of being sacked, as Leicester have only won two out of 21 Premier League matches.
