Mason Mount was absent from the win against Fulham due to injury. |
Manchester United are thriving under Carrick, but one player is experiencing a slump: Mason Mount, who has yet to make a significant impact in United's recent run of form.
Against Man City, Mount only came on as a substitute and had one goal disallowed. Against Arsenal, Mount sat on the bench and did not play a single minute. Against Fulham, the English midfielder was injured and therefore not included in the squad.
Since joining the "Red Devils" from Chelsea in 2023 for a transfer fee of over £60 million, Mason Mount has only played a total of 2,700 minutes for Manchester United.
This figure is very low compared to expectations for a player who was once a key figure at Chelsea and the England national team.
For comparison, Bruno Fernandes, the team's key midfielder, played around 2,000 minutes in the current 2025/26 season alone, even though the team hasn't played many matches yet.
Mount's situation is causing disappointment among fans. He continues to be absent from first-team training sessions in preparation for this weekend's Premier League campaign.

Mount's availability for the match against Tottenham this weekend remains uncertain. |
Interim manager Michael Carrick had previously stated that the injury was "not serious" and that Mount would "return very quickly," possibly in time for the match against Tottenham Hotspur. However, his continued absence from training on February 4th has raised concerns about his fitness.
Recurring injury problems have hampered Mount's career at Old Trafford, although this season he has shown signs of improvement with a more consistent run of matches.
These factors have made Mount no longer a preferred choice in the starting lineup. With MU's midfield performing well, Mount is essentially surplus to requirements.
