The venerable monk practiced what he preached.

Following the example of President Ho Chi Minh, Venerable Danh Ti - Deputy Abbot of Duong Xuong Moi Pagoda, Dinh Hoa commune - chooses a simple life, practicing what he preaches, and making caring for the lives of the Khmer people his motivation. The Venerable's good deeds for the people are spreading throughout the villages and hamlets of An Giang.

From a young age, Venerable Danh Tỉ understood the hardships of rural life. When he chose the path of monastic life at Đường Xuồng Mới Pagoda, he clearly understood his responsibility as a respected figure in the community. Imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology on mass mobilization, Venerable Danh Tỉ always viewed each sermon and religious festival as an opportunity to explain things to the people and gain their trust. He skillfully incorporated the Party's guidelines and policies, as well as the State's laws and regulations, using simple, easy-to-understand, and memorable language suitable for the lives of the people. "Following Uncle Ho's example, I think the most important thing is to help people understand and act correctly. When people understand and trust, they will voluntarily comply and not listen to bad influences. I strive to be a bridge so that people can work with peace of mind and unite to build their homeland," Venerable Danh Tỉ expressed.

Not only did he "talk," this humble monk always set an example by "doing." From mobilizing people to contribute labor and materials to build bridges and rural roads, supporting school repairs, to guiding the conversion of crops and livestock suitable to local conditions, the Venerable Monk directly participated in everything. "What is most valuable about the Venerable Monk is that he always takes the lead in everything he does, rolling up his sleeves and participating, which is why the people trust him and follow his example," said Mr. Danh Xuan, a resident of Hoa Thanh hamlet.

Besides his work in propaganda and mobilization, Venerable Danh Tỉ also pays attention to social welfare. He regularly distributes gifts to poor households, provides coffins for bereaved families, visits elderly people living alone, and helps the sick, never waiting for special campaigns or holidays. Mrs. Thị Ni, residing in Hòa Thanh hamlet, a household in difficult circumstances who is frequently visited and given gifts by Venerable Danh Tỉ, said emotionally: “Because of my age, I can no longer earn money. Since receiving the regular support from the Venerable, my life and the lives of many other disadvantaged households in the hamlet have become more stable.”

With his persistent contributions, in 2024, Venerable Danh Tỉ was awarded a certificate of merit by the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in promoting the role of influential figures among ethnic minorities; he also received numerous certificates of merit from the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion and the People's Committee of the commune. For many years, Venerable Danh Tỉ has been chosen by the people as an influential figure among the ethnic minorities in the commune. However, following the simple lifestyle exemplified by President Ho Chi Minh, the Venerable considers this recognition as a collective acknowledgment of the Buddhist community's commitment to working together for the community. The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Định Hòa commune, Chương Hoàng Tha, stated: “Venerable Danh Tỉ works with a pure heart. Through his connection with the local government, the Khmer people are becoming increasingly united, trusting in the Party's policies, and their lives are becoming more stable.”

From the temple roof amidst the Khmer villages, Venerable Danh Tỉ is contributing to spreading the spirit of learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example through practical, humane actions that are close to the people, so that Ho Chi Minh's ideology continues to deeply permeate the lives of the Khmer people in An Giang . "I always believe that whatever benefits the people, I will do my utmost to accomplish, no matter how small, I will strive to do it thoroughly. In the coming time, I will continue to promote propaganda and mobilize resources to care for social welfare, contributing to building increasingly united and prosperous Khmer villages," Venerable Danh Tỉ shared.

In 2025, Duong Xuong Moi Pagoda organized more than 50 propaganda sessions, attracting over 3,000 participants; distributed over 380 gifts to poor and near-poor households; and provided 170 scholarships, gifts, and bicycles to students who excelled in Khmer language studies… with a total expenditure of over 1 billion VND.
