The most recent natural attraction in Sam Mun is the Nam He stream. Its clear blue water, pristine natural landscape, and cool year-round create a strong appeal for tourists. The area along the stream offers many suitable spaces for organizing experiential activities, relaxation, and nature exploration .
The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Nam He stream leave a lasting impression on visitors, especially young people. Ms. Mai Hai Yen from Muong Thanh ward shared: “What impressed me most about Nam He is the feeling of peace. The stream water is crystal clear, the air is cool and fresh, and the scenery retains its pristine beauty. Just sitting by the stream and listening to its flow is enough to ease the mind after busy days.”

Bauhinia flowers are blooming brilliantly along the road leading to Tay Trang International Border Gate.
While Nam He boasts the gentle beauty of pristine mountains and forests, the Tay Trang International Border Gate area dons a vibrant cloak of bauhinia blossoms every time they bloom. Rows of bauhinia trees stretch across the border mountain slopes, awakening the entire Northwest landscape after the cold winter. The bauhinia blossoms at the border gate possess a unique beauty: their delicate pink petals shimmer in the sunlight, both soft and striking against the verdant backdrop of the vast forest.
Every March, the road to the Tay Trang International Border Gate attracts a large number of tourists, photographers, and adventure enthusiasts. On his personal blog "Rot's Blog," travel blogger Bui Ngoc Cong once shared: "This year the bauhinia flowers bloomed a bit early and not as densely as in previous years, but the Tay Trang Border Gate itself is absolutely stunning. The bauhinia flowers here are quite unique; they're not pure white like in other areas, but have a light pink hue, looking very vibrant, yet still retaining the spirit of Northwest Vietnam… Tay Trang is a worthwhile destination to experience, especially when combined with a visit to Border Marker 113 between Vietnam and Laos."

In the tourism development strategies of many localities today, the element that creates depth and sustainable identity is community culture. This is also a prominent advantage of Sam Mứn. Traditional stilt houses, Thai folk dances, Hmong flute music, handicrafts, customs, and daily life and work... are all valuable resources for developing experiential tourism.
To turn potential into a driving force for development, Mr. Pham Thiet Chuy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sam Mun commune, said: “In the past, the commune has focused on implementing many activities to exploit tourism potential such as: raising people's awareness, initially building experiential sites, maintaining environmental hygiene and preserving traditional cultural values. However, tourism development still faces many difficulties, especially in terms of transportation infrastructure and facilities serving tourism. In addition, investment resources are limited, promotion work is not truly effective, and the quality of local tourism human resources... are issues that the locality needs to improve soon.”
Despite possessing many advantages, Sam Mun tourism has not been exploited to its full potential. Most destinations lack comprehensive investment in infrastructure and services; tourism products are fragmented, lacking a connected chain between cultural experiences, cuisine, accommodation, and exploration. Promotional activities and image building for the destination have not yet achieved strong reach on digital platforms.

With the growing interest in experiential tourism and sustainable development, Sam Mứn has many opportunities to capitalize on its existing advantages. The locality is orienting its tourism development towards preserving ethnic cultural identity, focusing on building community-based tourism products, experiencing cultural life, agricultural production, and exploring natural landscapes. To effectively exploit its tourism potential, Sam Mứn commune has identified several key solutions such as: raising community awareness, training tourism skills for local people, preserving traditional cultural values, and protecting the ecological environment. The locality is focusing on attracting investment in tourism infrastructure and services, gradually building distinctive products linked to its cultural identity and the advantages of the border region.
In the long term, Sam Mun aims to build an image as a destination associated with its natural landscape, cultural identity, and friendly community. Visitors to Sam Mun will experience a unique ecological space and have the opportunity to learn about the life, customs, and traditional cultural values of the local ethnic groups.

Combining the inherent values of nature and culture with the determination of the local Party committee, government, and people, Sam Mứn is opening its doors to sustainable tourism development. Although this journey faces many challenges, it opens up hope for a border region undergoing a powerful transformation. Each season, the blooming of the Bauhinia flowers, along with the stunning natural scenery and unique traditional cultural values, will further enhance the appeal of Sam Mứn tourism, a region brimming with energy on the border of our country.
