For the welfare of union members

Comrade Do Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Tam Duong District Labor Union, stated: "Since the beginning of the year, all levels of trade unions in the district have actively disseminated directives and resolutions of the Party, policies and laws of the State, and guiding documents of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to union members and workers. The role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers has been focused on, contributing to building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations. All levels of trade unions have proactively stayed close to the grassroots, grasping the situation; patriotic emulation movements have been widely implemented and received enthusiastic support from a large number of union members and workers. This has created the foundation for the District Labor Union to achieve the results of its work."

Perhaps even now, many union members, workers, and employees in Tam Duong district still remember the warm atmosphere, full of sharing and care, both material and spiritual, from the leaders of the Provincial and Tam Duong District Labor Federations, and the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank branch in the province during the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" program, combined with the "Trade Union Tet Market" in mid-January 2025. Funding came from the provincial "Trade Union Social Fund," the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and social contributions. With the spirit of "All union members and employees have a Tet holiday," many activities were organized, such as: giving 251 gifts to union members and employees in difficult circumstances or suffering from serious illnesses; distributing 250 shopping vouchers (worth 300,000 VND each) to 250 union members and policy beneficiary families in the district to purchase goods for the Lunar New Year; and visiting one union member suffering from a serious illness, providing assistance worth 3 million VND.

Ms. Vang Thi Chuyen (from the Trade Union of Ban Hon Kindergarten) recalled: "The program was organized right before Tet (Lunar New Year). At that time, my family was in very difficult circumstances; my parents-in-law were elderly, and my father-in-law had lost sight in one eye. I was worried about how to have a fulfilling Tet, when the school's trade union selected me to participate in the program. I received gifts from the Provincial and District Labor Federations; and participated in the 'Trade Union Tet Market.' Not only were there a variety of products, but I also received free shopping vouchers. I was so happy and felt very fortunate to be one of the members of this supportive trade union."

Previously, on January 3, 2025, the District Labor Union, in coordination with Giang Ma commune and the Trade Union of Giang Ma Ethnic Boarding Primary School, organized a meeting to visit, encourage, and support the family of union member Do Xuan Canh, who suffered a work accident resulting in a 20% loss of health, with a donation of 2 million VND. From the "Trade Union Social Fund" of the Provincial Labor Union, the District Labor Union also provided 5 million VND to support the family of union member Nguyen Cong Tri (Trade Union of the District Cultural, Sports and Communication Center) who is suffering from a serious illness requiring long-term treatment.

It is known that the Standing Committee of the District Labor Union has directed its affiliated grassroots unions to closely coordinate with the government and employers to select and organize meaningful activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of union members, workers, and employees, paying special attention to workers and employees with difficult circumstances or serious illnesses. Leave entitlements, convalescence leave, and maternity leave are all ensured according to regulations. In the first six months of this year, sick leave, maternity leave, and convalescence leave benefits were paid to 77 individuals with a total amount exceeding 1 billion VND. The Executive Committee of the grassroots unions, in coordination with their respective professional departments, reviewed and approved salary and seniority increases for 373 people in the first phase of 2025, including early salary increases for 36 people; and reviewed and approved promotions and transfers for 480 people.

Activities aimed at improving the material and spiritual well-being of union members and workers during the Lunar New Year, Workers' Month, and International Women's Day (March 8th) were regularly directed and implemented by all levels of trade unions through various forms. Accordingly, grassroots trade unions visited 450 union members, providing a total of over 112 million VND in assistance. Trade unions at all levels also coordinated and organized numerous cultural, artistic, and sports activities to enhance the spiritual lives of union members and workers.

Focusing on solutions to ensure welfare, union members and workers have gained more confidence in the trade union organization and actively participated in emulation movements such as: "Excellent Workers, Creative Workers," "Green, Clean, Beautiful and Safe Working Environment," "Excellent Consulting, Good Service,"... associated with promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style. From the beginning of the year until now, the entire district has had over 400 volunteers, including 300 union members, workers, and employees participating in voluntary blood donation. The grassroots trade unions have recommended 13 outstanding union members to the Party for consideration, training, and admission.
