Why does Barca often come from behind?

Hansi Flick admitted that Barcelona often concede early and frequently, making comebacks more of a "habit" than a sustainable foundation.

Following the 4-1 victory over Copenhagen, coach Hansi Flick frankly pointed out the core problem for FC Barcelona this season.

"We conceded too many goals, that's why comebacks happen so often," Flick said. "The team's spirit is to always believe in ourselves, but we have to do better, especially in the early stages of the game."

The statistics support Flick's assessment. Barcelona have come from behind 10 times in all competitions since the start of the season, the most in Europe.

This statistic clearly reflects the team's character and belief, but it also reveals a paradox. Barca frequently puts themselves at an early disadvantage due to early mistakes in their defense.

In many matches, Barcelona starts slowly, allowing opponents to exploit the space behind them or take advantage of set pieces. Only when they fall behind do the Catalan team accelerate, increase the intensity of their attack, and regain control. Comebacks thus become a familiar scenario, but they are not always repeatable.

Flick praised his players' never-give-up spirit. According to him, the team's unwavering belief in their ability to turn the tide is a crucial foundation for competing for titles. However, the German coach emphasized that belief cannot replace solidity. If Barcelona continues to concede early goals, they will pay the price against opponents who are better able to control the game.

Having already staged 10 comebacks this season is both a testament to their resilience and a warning to Barcelona's defense. For Flick, the biggest challenge now lies not in their mentality, but in minimizing mistakes from the very first minute, so that victories no longer depend on risky chases.
