Why is it cloudy all day in Ho Chi Minh City?

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động11/05/2023

Over the past two days, May 10th and 11th, Ho Chi Minh City has experienced overcast weather with little sunshine and frequent dark clouds throughout the day. The city no longer experiences the sweltering heat from morning to night. Rain has occurred in some areas, but the amount of rainfall has not been significant and the rain has not lasted long.

Observations in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of May 11th showed dark clouds appearing early in the morning. It wasn't until after 9 AM that the sun began to shine lightly. Some areas experienced light rain, which later intensified.

At 8:00 AM on May 11th, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City was cloudy with intermittent weak sunshine.

From midday to late afternoon on May 11th in Ho Chi Minh City, there were many clouds and intermittent weak sunshine.

From noon to late afternoon, there will be occasional rain and showers in many areas, with scattered moderate rain and thunderstorms, and locally heavy rain concentrated along the western border; scattered rain is expected in the eastern coastal area. During thunderstorms, be wary of tornadoes, lightning, strong gusts of wind, and hail. The highest temperature during the day in the eastern region will be 30-33 degrees Celsius, and in the western region 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Explaining the overcast and dark cloud cover throughout the day, a representative from the Southern Vietnam Regional Meteorological and Hydrological Station stated that the cause was a weak strengthening of the continental cold high-pressure system, shifting eastward and southward. A low-pressure trough, with its axis at approximately 11-13 degrees North latitude, formed a convergence zone of winds directly over the northwestern part of the Southeastern region. At higher altitudes, a subtropical high-pressure system passed through the North Central and Northern regions of Vietnam.
