According to Forbes' recently published list of the world's billionaires in 2026 (those with assets of $1 billion or more), thanks to the boom in artificial intelligence (AI), the dynamic performance of the financial market, and favorable monetary policies, the number of billionaires with assets of $1 billion or more has reached a record high of 3,428 this year, including entrepreneurs, investors, and heirs, an increase of more than 400 compared to 2025.
Not only are there more billionaires in the world, but they are also wealthier. The combined wealth of this group reached a record high of $20.1 trillion, an increase of approximately $4 trillion compared to the previous year.
The United States continues to have the most billionaires in the world with 989, including 15 in the top 20 richest people globally. China (including Hong Kong) ranks second with 610 billionaires, while India is third with 229.
Notably, Vietnam also has 8 USD billionaires on the list, with a total net worth of approximately $39.8 billion, an increase of $25.1 billion compared to last year.
Leading the list of Vietnamese billionaires is still Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vingroup. Forbes records this businessman's total net worth at $27.7 billion, an increase of $21.2 billion compared to 2025, and ranks him 93rd on the list of the world's richest people.
Within the Vingroup ecosystem, for the first time, two female entrepreneurs have appeared on this ranking: Vice Chairman Pham Thu Huong (wife of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong) with a net worth of $3 billion, and Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, Vice Chairman of Vingroup and also Ms. Huong's younger sister, with a net worth of $2.1 billion. These two female entrepreneurs are ranked 1,406th and 1,982nd in the world, respectively.

If we consider only the list of Vietnamese billionaires, Ms. Pham Thu Huong currently ranks 3rd, while Ms. Pham Thuy Hang is in 6th place. Thus, the three billionaires belonging to the Vingroup ecosystem alone hold a total asset value of approximately $32.8 billion, accounting for about 82% of the total assets of Vietnamese billionaires in the ranking.
Ranked second on the list of Vietnamese billionaires is Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Sovico Group, with a net worth of $4.2 billion (+$1.4 billion compared to last year) and ranking 1,011th globally. Ms. Thao is also Vietnam's first female billionaire, with her wealth primarily derived from her stakes in Vietjet Air (VJC) and HDBank (HDB).
Following Ms. Huong, in fourth place, is Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, with a net worth of approximately $2.9 billion (+$0.5 billion).
Following closely behind is Mr. Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of Techcombank, with an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion, an increase of $0.5 billion. Next are Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of VPBank – also making his first appearance on this ranking – and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of Masan, each possessing approximately $1.2 billion. Mr. Quang's net worth has increased by $0.2 billion compared to last year's ranking.
Forbes states that this list of the world's billionaires is compiled based on calculations of wealth from stock prices and exchange rates as of March 1, 2026.
