The event, held at the Lé Bourget Paris Airshow 2025, contributed to boosting economic cooperation between Vietnam, France, and Europe, while also marking a new phase of Vietjet's development towards becoming a multinational airline group.
This order follows up on an agreement last month to purchase 20 more new A330neo aircraft, bringing the total number of wide-body aircraft to 40. This will allow the airline to increase flights on high-demand routes across the Asia- Pacific region, as well as launch new long-haul routes to Europe in the future.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet, stated: “I have a dream and am ready to act to contribute to making Vietnam a regional aviation hub for passenger transport, technical services, logistics, training and research, global supply chains, aviation infrastructure… and we will certainly continue to develop our powerful fleet. Today's agreement with Airbus is not just a commercial contract but a milestone opening a new journey for Vietjet: a journey to reach the global stage, forming new growth poles, a journey of connectivity, towards a sustainable aviation ecosystem and a desire to conquer.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Senior Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Business at Airbus, stated: “Our latest agreement with Vietjet comes just weeks after the airline placed another order for A330neo wide-body aircraft. The A321neo and A330neo will be the perfect platform for Vietjet to continue expanding its operations, more effectively meeting the needs across its entire network. Furthermore, the airline will benefit from the high level of technical compatibility available only in the latest generation of Airbus aircraft.”
The A321neo is the largest version of Airbus's best-selling A320neo family, offering superior range and performance. Combining next-generation engines and Sharklets wingtips, the A321neo reduces noise by 50%, saves over 20% on fuel, and lowers CO₂ emissions, while maximizing passenger comfort in the most spacious cabin of its class.
Like all aircraft currently in production, the A321neo can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the goal of increasing SAF utilization to 100% by 2030.
According to the 2024 ESG sustainability report, Vietjet's CO₂ emissions per passenger are among the lowest in the world.
Vietjet currently operates a fleet of over 120 new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft and has placed orders for more than 400 aircraft. With continuously growing passenger numbers year after year, Vietjet is actively expanding its flight network across continents, developing a new and modern fleet with its strategic partner, Airbus, in the near future.
