Overview of the ceremony
The ceremony was honored with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, leaders of central and local ministries, departments and agencies; representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations; businesses, partners and customers; as well as former leaders, current leaders and all staff and employees of VIMC and its member enterprises.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Anh Son – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIMC – emotionally reflected on the three decades of challenges but also of great pride. He shared: “Thirty years, a journey that has not been calm, with brilliant periods but also times of plunging into the depths of difficulty.” From the years of crisis when accumulated losses reached over 23,000 billion VND and liabilities hit 66,000 billion VND, VIMC was once on the brink of a complete crisis. “ But it was in those dark moments that the spirit of those who possessed the pride of the maritime profession… revived this ship and steered it forward.”
Chairman Le Anh Son delivered a speech at the ceremony.
Through a series of drastic restructuring solutions, focusing on three core areas (seaports, maritime transport, and maritime services), combined with the application of modern management methods and a "customer-centric" philosophy, VIMC has made a spectacular recovery. From a negative equity level, VIMC has now achieved a market capitalization of over 100,000 billion VND, becoming a leading public enterprise in the maritime sector in Vietnam.
Chairman Le Anh Son: “Thirty years is just a moment in history, but for VIMC, it's a lifetime of ups and downs filled with pride.”
Chairman Le Anh Son affirmed: "We cannot change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust the sails" – a consistent message throughout the Corporation's renewal process. "Thirty years is just a moment in history, but for VIMC, it's a lifetime of ups and downs filled with pride," the Chairman emphasized.
VIMC is honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal.
The awarding ceremony for the Second Class Labor Medal – a prestigious award from the Party and State – was held in a solemn and emotional atmosphere. Representatives from the Ministry of Finance announced the decision and performed the awarding ceremony for the Vietnam Maritime Corporation. This marks a milestone in the three-decade journey of a collective that has not succumbed to the storms, and has known how to "adjust its sails" to overcome challenges and venture out into the open sea.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc delivered a speech at the ceremony.
On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc acknowledged and highly appreciated VIMC's outstanding efforts over the past 30 years, especially its leading role in developing logistics infrastructure and connecting international trade. “Vietnam Maritime Corporation has overcome numerous difficulties and challenges with a spirit of innovation, determination, and solidarity – becoming a pillar enterprise in the country's maritime economy.” The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized: “The Second Class Labor Medal awarded today is a testament to VIMC's persistent and tireless contributions to the national economy.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc: “VIMC needs to build on its 30-year tradition, overcome all challenges, and proactively take the lead in digital transformation and innovation to become a maritime corporation of regional and global stature.”
In the context of digital transformation and increasingly fierce global competition, the Deputy Prime Minister urged VIMC to continue pioneering innovation, modernizing its fleet, expanding its international port system, developing smart logistics, and proactively integrating more deeply into the international arena. “VIMC needs to build on its 30-year tradition, overcome all challenges, and proactively lead in digital transformation and innovation to become a regional and global maritime corporation.”
The celebration concluded with a special artistic program titled “The Journey of Mission – Overcoming Waves and Reaching Further – Entering a New Era” – recreating the 30-year journey through the language of stage, music, and modern technology graphics. The vivid and emotional images on stage conveyed an inspiring message about a new future – where VIMC continues to rise strongly on the global maritime economic map.
Thirty years – a journey not without its challenges, but one long enough to affirm the character, stature, and aspirations of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC). With the solid foundation already built, VIMC is ready to embark on new voyages – pioneering, innovative, and sustainable.
