VinFast - Vietnam's leading electric vehicle manufacturer has just officially broken ground on the first integrated electric vehicle factory in Tamil Nadu state, India, providing job opportunities for about 3.500 local workers. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Mr. MKStalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu; Mr.Dr. TRB Rajaa, Minister of Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr. V. Arun Roy, Minister of Industry, Member of Parliament for Thoothukudi region; Members of the Legislative Assembly of the state of Tamil Nadu, officials and senior representatives of the State Government, and leaders of VinFast in India.
The integrated electric vehicle factory has a scale of 160 hectares, located at the industrial park of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Promotion Corporation (SIPCOT) in Thoothukudi, southern Tamil Nadu state. The project has a total initial investment of 500 million USD within 5 years, expected capacity of 150.000 vehicles/year, creating job opportunities for 3.000 - 3.500 people. In parallel with strengthening cooperation with the world's leading suppliers, VinFast also plans to promote the localization rate, contributing to creating positive momentum for local economic growth.
