Robots become "receptionists" at smart hospitals.

The conference was attended by General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, along with other Party and State leaders, and representatives from central committees, ministries, and agencies. Among the four Politburo resolutions disseminated and implemented at the conference was Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health.

Prior to the opening ceremony, delegates visiting the exhibition had the opportunity to directly experience the VinMotion medical robot, noting that it represents a pioneering step by Vinmec in the smart hospital model. Developed by VinMotion engineers and Vinmec experts, the robot is capable of natural communication with friendly expressions, assisting, interacting with, and answering basic questions for patients throughout the examination process.

With the capacity to welcome and serve hundreds of customers daily, robots act as intelligent "medical staff," assisting healthcare workers and enhancing customer experience and satisfaction.

Vinmec plans to deploy the VinMotion Motion One robot, "Made in Vietnam," in the reception area as an intelligent healthcare assistant, connecting patients with a modern, technologically advanced healthcare system.

Professor, Doctor Tran Trung Dung, General Director of Vinmec System, said: “We aim to build a smart hospital chain model where robots can communicate naturally and assist medical staff in repetitive tasks. This is an important step that opens up the future, where robots, artificial intelligence, and medical data are integrated to deliver a personalized, comprehensive, and groundbreaking healthcare experience, while preserving the humanistic values in healthcare.”

3D technology - A breakthrough for personalized treatment.

In addition to the robot, in the presence of high-ranking Party and State leaders, Professor, Doctor Tran Trung Dung introduced the achievements of applying 3D technology in medicine - a field in which Vinmec also holds a leading position in Vietnam.

Accordingly, Vinmec is the first and only institution in Vietnam to master the entire closed-loop 3D technology chain, creating breakthroughs in treatment that are "personalized and precise": 3D-printed anatomical models accurately reconstruct complex pathologies; personalized surgical aids that shorten operating time and reduce complications. Notably, 3D-printed titanium implant technology optimizes both functional and morphological restoration; and virtual reality (VR) technology assists doctors and engineers in visually simulating pre-operative procedures.

These applications have helped Vinmec successfully perform many complex surgeries such as chest wall reconstruction, iliac wing replacement, and total femoral replacement in pediatric patients. Instead of using commercially available equipment that is sometimes not fully compatible with the patient, Vinmec designs a PSI surgical navigation device and artificial joints/bones specifically for each patient, based on CT and MRI data. This device increases the accuracy of the surgery, optimizes mobility, and shortens recovery time for patients.

3D-printed titanium alloy rib cage reconstruction with anti-pulmonary herniation mesh achieves 99% accuracy, ensuring respiratory function and protecting internal organs.

Notably, in September 2024, Vinmec successfully performed a radical surgery to remove an 11.5 cm mediastinal tumor and reconstruct a portion of the chest wall using titanium. This success made Vinmec the first hospital in Southeast Asia to apply 3D titanium printing technology in thoracic surgery with artificial chest wall grafts. Following this success, Vinmec also successfully performed a personalized 3D titanium-printed total femur replacement surgery on the youngest pediatric patient in the world .

"Investing in and promoting the application of science and technology, optimizing operations, and developing an academic healthcare system through groundbreaking research, thereby creating effective applications for patients, is our desire and direction, aiming to contribute to raising the level of healthcare in the country, so that Vietnamese people can receive the best quality healthcare," Professor Tran Trung Dung further shared.

The special attention from Party and State leaders and ministries and agencies at the conference is proof of the belief that Vietnamese intelligence can fully create pioneering solutions, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare for the people and elevating Vietnam's medical standing on the world map.
