On June 13th, the head of the Phu Yen Provincial Department of Health announced that they had received a report regarding the case of 7 people in the province who were hospitalized suspected of food poisoning.

According to the inspection results of the Department of Health , on the evening of June 2nd, 170 people ate a buffet with various types of snails and seafood at a restaurant in Ward 7, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province. On June 3rd, 7 people were admitted to the Dong Hoa Town Medical Center with symptoms of severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Upon receiving the patient, the Dong Hoa Town Medical Center treated the symptoms, but was unable to obtain a sample for testing to determine the cause of the poisoning.

After treatment, all patients recovered and were discharged home.

The Phu Yen Provincial Department of Health has established an inspection team at a snail buffet restaurant. The inspection revealed several violations in the food service business.

The Department of Health announced that it is following the proper legal procedures to handle these violations.

According to information from the Phu Yen Provincial Department of Health, no food samples were collected at the time of the investigation because two days had passed since the discovery, so the establishment no longer had food samples or related materials.

Because neither food samples nor patient samples could be obtained, the Phu Yen Provincial Department of Health concluded that the symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea experienced by buffet diners were not sufficient grounds to conclude food poisoning.

Previously, on June 3rd, seven people in Dong Hoa town were hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fainting. All of them had one thing in common: they had consumed a snail buffet at a restaurant in Tuy Hoa city.

After receiving information about the incident, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) requested the Phu Yen Provincial Department of Health to urgently direct medical facilities to focus resources on treating patients suffering from food poisoning, ensuring their health and lives are not affected.

At the same time, we request that the relevant authorities investigate and trace the origin of the food poisoning, and collect food and biological samples to determine the cause.
