Mr. Pham Trong Dung - Principal of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School, Trieu Son town, said that this morning there were only 52 students in the whole school. There are more than 400 other students whose parents have not yet sent them to class.
Previously, on the afternoon of March 27, parents of students at Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School simultaneously let 3 students leave school to protest the policy of merging with Le Van Tam Primary School.
Parents gave the reason that school mergers make students' travel farther, dangerous for both students and pick-ups when having to cross provincial roads. Besides, the facilities are not guaranteed and the number of students is too large.
On March 28, leaders of Trieu Son Town People's Committee and Trieu Son District People's Committee and the school had a dialogue with more than 3 parents regarding the issue of merging schools and not sending their children to class.
At the dialogue, the majority of parents recommended the need to consider merging and arranging schools in the area accordingly so that students do not have to go to school far away. In addition, many parents still do not agree with the school merger.
Receiving opinions from the people, local authorities hope that parents will continue to send their children to class and at the same time not gather in large numbers in front of the school gate, causing insecurity and disorder.
Previously, on February 21, the Standing Committee of Trieu Son District Party Committee met to give opinions on agreeing to the policy of merging Nguyen Ba Ngoc primary school and Le Van Tam primary school into one to hand over the current house and land. from Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School to To Vinh Dien Secondary School to gradually invest in upgrading and expanding in accordance with local capital capacity.
Trieu Son District People's Committee also sent a document to the Department of Education and Training to ask for opinions on the merger of two primary schools, Nguyen Ba Ngoc and Le Van Tam. Currently, there is no direction from the Department of Education and Training on this issue.
