King Charles of Great Britain makes his first visit to Australia.

(CLO) King Charles and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom met with people in Sydney after attending a church service on Sunday, marking their first visit to Australia.

Inside the church, King Charles and Queen Camilla signed two Bibles. This was the first time the public had the opportunity to see King Charles and Queen Camilla since their arrival in Australia's largest city on Friday night.

Later, while transiting Sydney Harbour, King Charles visited the New South Wales Parliament to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Australia's oldest legislative body.

“It is a great pleasure to visit Australia for the first time as King and to rekindle my love for this country and its people, a love I have cherished for a very long time,” King Charles shared.

This was also Charles's first international trip as King, and his first major trip since being diagnosed with cancer.

According to an announcement from the Commonwealth Universities Association on Sunday, King Charles has contributed a significant personal sum to create a skills training program aimed at addressing climate change and enhancing higher education in small island nations, including those in the Pacific.

This program will benefit mid-level professionals and civil servants, aiming to retain talent in small island nations and enhance their ability to respond to the impacts of climate change, such as rising sea levels.
