The King of Vietnamese Language gets caught making mistakes again.

In the March 15th episode of King of Vietnamese , Phan Quynh Van (33 years old, from Ba Ria - Vung Tau , a translator) beat three other contestants to advance to the final round, the "Dethroning" round. No one has won this round in season three, so MC Xuan Bac is hoping to find a winner.

In the Dethroning Round, contestant Phan Quỳnh Vân lost when she answered the second horizontal row with "hỉ hả" (happy/joyful).

Contestant Phan Quynh Van had 60 seconds to complete the crossword puzzle challenge to find the meaningful word in the vertical column. The Vietnamese Language King team provided seven letters and four questions corresponding to the four columns of the crossword. Ms. Quynh Van didn't take too long to answer.

In box number two, the clue consists of two letters, "H" and "Ả," the word to be found meaning outwardly expressing joy because something went as desired. The player gave the answer "Hỉ hả." However, the correct answer given by the program is "Hể hả."

The correct answer given by the program was "hẹ hả" (happy/rejoicing). Viewers believe the two words are synonymous.

Even if the player gets the remaining three questions and the keyword right, they don't win and go home with the 5 million VND prize.

Many opinions on social media suggest that the contestant's answer, "hỉ hả," is correct, as it's a synonym for "hể hả." Some argue that "hỉ hả" is the standard word, while "hể hả" is a variant and a regional expression. Viewers noticed the absence of the advisory panel in this question and felt that contestant Phan Quỳnh Vân deserved to win.

According to the Vietnamese Dictionary edited by Hoang Phe, ninth edition, published by Da Nang Publishing House in 2003, both words “hỉ hả” and “hể hả” exist. Page 433 of the dictionary defines “hể hả” as: outwardly expressing joy because one has achieved their goal. For example: Laughing and talking happily. Everyone happily leaving after finishing their work. Page 435 states that the word “hỉ hả” has the same meaning as “hể hả”.

The Vietnamese Language King program has had several errors in its first two seasons. Some language experts have pointed out that the VTV program made mistakes in providing information to the contestants. In one episode, language researcher Hoang Tuan Cong stated that the Vietnamese Language King program made a mistake in its question when it asserted that the word "lang lo" has no meaning, it is simply a misspelling of "loang lo".

Occasionally, there are spelling errors in the answers, such as writing "xoay sở" instead of "xoay sở". In episode 28 of season 2, the show accepted the misspelled answer "chậm chễ" when asking players to choose between "trậm trễ" or "chậm chễ". Experts analyzed that in Vietnamese, there is only the word "chậm trễ", not the word spelled as the program suggested.

In another round, the two words "dúm dó" or "rúm ró" were given to the contestant. The correct answer from the Vietnamese Language King was "rúm ró". But "dúm dó" is not misspelled either.
