Many families have stabilized their lives thanks to the companionship and livelihood support provided by the Farmers' Association.

A foundation for advancement

The Provincial Farmers' Association has identified the central task in sustainable poverty reduction as creating conditions for farmers to have resources for economic development, transforming production models to be suitable and stable in the long term. In this regard, the Farmers' Support Fund is considered an important support, helping members confidently invest in production, increase income, and prevent re-poverty. The Association at all levels implements this work in various forms, both through direct support and in coordination with credit institutions to expand access to capital for the people.

To date, the total capital of the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund has reached over 205 billion VND, disbursed to more than 5,100 borrowing households. Many households, after accessing capital, have switched to suitable crops, invested in machinery, or developed new models in a safe direction, initially creating stable income and improving their living standards.

In addition, the various levels of the Farmers' Association closely coordinate with credit institutions to support farmers with loans for production. Specifically, the Association maintains cooperation with the Social Policy Bank to implement 13 credit programs, involving 2,026 groups and 109,439 households, with a total loan amount of 4,244.6 billion VND. This capital focuses on practical programs such as loans for clean water and sanitation in rural areas, loans for newly lifted-out-of-poverty households, loans for near-poor households, and job creation.

In addition, the Association coordinated with the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank to facilitate loans for 26,750 households through 1,279 groups, totaling 3,636 billion VND. Commercial banks also participated in supporting 286 households with loans totaling 215 billion VND. At the grassroots level, many branches effectively maintained the revolving capital contribution model, helping members address their small but urgent capital needs in production and daily life.

Mr. Ton Van Hoa (residing in Ta Nu hamlet, Khanh Hung commune) shared: “Thanks to the Farmers' Association of the commune acting as a guarantor for my loan, I have access to capital for production investment. Each recent harvest has been profitable, and my life is much more stable.” Mr. Hoa's case demonstrates that when capital is used for its intended purpose, it can gradually lead to sustainable livelihoods and a stable life.

Working together to help farmers escape poverty.

The movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" in the border commune of Binh Thanh has spread widely, becoming a driving force to help farmers improve their lives and stabilize their livelihoods. During the 2023-2025 period, 1,350 farmer members registered to participate in the movement, with the number of households excelling in production and business achieving incomes of 150-200 million VND/year increasing by 36 households compared to the beginning of the term.

Through this, they create stable income, spread the spirit of solidarity, help each other overcome difficulties, and affirm the important role of the Association in community life. Notable examples include the households of Mr. Pham Van Tri (residing in Hamlet T3), Mr. Chau Van Ninh (residing in Hamlet Gay), Mr. Mai Van Khoe (residing in Hamlet Dong Khoi),...

In addition, access to loans has always been a crucial support, helping members confidently invest in production and expand their family economic models. The Standing Committee of the Farmers' Association of the commune directs the local branches to actively mobilize farmers to contribute to the Farmers' Support Fund. To date, the Farmers' Support Fund allocated by the province to the commune has over 1.4 billion VND, providing loans to 30 members.

In addition, the entire commune currently has 15 savings and loan groups, with 696 members currently borrowing, totaling over 43.5 billion VND in outstanding loans. The capital is strictly managed, loans are disbursed for the intended purpose, helping many households expand production, improve income, and gradually rise out of poverty sustainably.

According to Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Binh Thanh commune: “The Farmers' Association always considers accompanying farmers as an important task. We not only provide capital support but also guide technical expertise, connect with markets, encourage members to apply high technology, and build effective economic models. The strengthened or newly established cooperatives and cooperative groups become a solid foundation, helping members confidently invest and develop their economy, making a practical contribution to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.”

Enhancing production efficiency

Nhon Hoa Lap commune has 4 export-oriented growing areas (durian, lemon), contributing to expanding the consumer market and increasing income for the people.

In conjunction with creating livelihoods and caring for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households, the Farmers' Association of Nhon Hoa Lap commune focuses on implementing high-tech rice production models linked to green growth. This is one of the important solutions to help members improve productivity and product quality, thereby contributing to increased income and sustainable poverty reduction.

In 2025, the commune will continue to implement the Project "Sustainable Development of 1 Million Hectares of High-Quality, Low-Emission Rice Cultivation Associated with Green Growth in the Mekong Delta Region by 2030". To date, the commune maintains 27 high-tech rice production models with a total area of 2,348.5 hectares, achieving 100% of the plan.

A model for high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation linked to green growth for the Summer-Autumn 2025 crop season was established at Tan Thinh Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative, covering an area of 10 hectares. Simultaneously, the Association organized 14 training courses to replicate the model, with 466 households participating and the area expanded to over 841 hectares. This helped members master techniques, apply scientific and technological advancements to production, and improve economic efficiency.

The cooperatives have become an important connecting point, providing services such as seeds, fertilizers, agricultural supplies, and technical guidance, supporting members in organizing production in a safe and sustainable manner. To date, the entire commune has 7 active agricultural cooperatives, contributing to creating stable jobs and increasing income for the people.

The commune has one domestic rice cultivation area code covering 26 hectares, and four export cultivation area codes (durian, lemon) covering 61.66 hectares. Currently, the commune has seven OCOP products including various types of mushrooms, ST25 rice, lotus powder, and lotus heart tea. Regarding organic agriculture (VietGAP, agricultural food safety chain), the commune has two rice production facilities following VietGAP standards covering 56 hectares; and three food safety chains (lotus, ST rice, mushrooms) covering 56.5 hectares.

According to To Thanh Quoc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nhon Hoa Lap commune: “The application of high technology, the development of production linkage models, and the development of OCOP and VietGAP products help farmers improve productivity, quality, and product value. The Association always accompanies the people in technical training, market connections, and support in accessing certifications and standards. This is a sustainable direction, helping members proactively produce, stabilize their lives, and at the same time contribute positively to poverty reduction and local socio-economic development.”

Timely and targeted support has given farmer members more motivation to overcome difficulties. The results achieved demonstrate the Association's role in accompanying farmers in building suitable production models, increasing income, stabilizing their lives, and making a positive contribution to the local goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
