Passion for Physics
Tran Truong Giang's house is nestled upstream of the tranquil Thu Bon River in Thach Bich village (Que Lam commune, Que Son district). Giang is the youngest of two siblings and is currently in 12th grade. Because the house is more than 15km away, Giang left home in 10th grade and moved to Trung Phuoc town, managing his own living expenses to pursue his studies. Before discovering his passion for Physics, Giang excelled in all subjects, achieving high results in every. However, he has a particular passion for natural sciences .
Truong Giang's older sister also has an impressive academic record, currently studying at Da Nang University of Architecture. Following her example, Giang always strives for high academic achievement. As a result, Giang has consistently maintained the title of excellent student for 11 consecutive years, and also achieved the title of excellent student in the first semester of his 12th grade year.
At the recent provincial-level gifted student selection exam, Giang won first prize in Physics with a score of 19 out of 20 points. During the exam, Giang read through the questions once, then allocated her time wisely, working on them in order from easy to difficult.
Speaking about his learning experience, Truong Giang shared: “I planned my studies and extracurricular activities in detail. I studied from the basics to advanced levels and researched exam syllabus information online, from senior students, and especially from my physics teacher. Physics always has formulas and laws, so you have to memorize them thoroughly and not miss any application exercises.”
Ms. Hoang Thi Suong, a teacher at Nong Son High School, said that Truong Giang has a quick mind, good study strategies, and is very humble. With his passion for tackling difficult physics problems, he proudly won first prize in the recent competition. This is the biggest award the school has been hoping for in many years. In addition, Giang also has a talent for painting, participating in painting exhibitions at the Dai Binh Cultural and Tourism Festival, and painting on conical hats to sell to tourists.
The will to overcome difficulties
Born into a poor, purely agricultural family, with a frequently ill mother, Tran Thi Kim Anh from Khanh Binh village (Ninh Phuoc commune, Que Son district), currently in 11th grade/3, is always strong, overcoming difficulties in her studies, and is the pride of her family, teachers, and friends.
Understanding her family's circumstances, Kim Anh helps her parents with housework and farm work whenever she has free time, guides her younger brother in his studies, and saves money. With unwavering determination and effort, Kim Anh has consistently achieved the title of all-around excellent student for many years. Notably, recently, at the Quang Nam Provincial Excellent Student Competition for the 2024-2025 school year, Kim Anh advanced to a higher grade, competing against 12th-grade students and winning first prize in Geography with a score of 18/20.
Kim Anh confided: “My purpose in participating in this competition is to broaden my knowledge in preparation for the high school graduation exam next year. I am extremely grateful to my teachers for their dedicated teaching. To excel in Geography, one needs to have a passion for the subject, organize knowledge using tree diagrams, and practice using the atlas.”
During her middle school years, Kim Anh participated in the STEM teaching product exhibition competition for middle school students; the "English Talent" competition for high school students (abbreviated as OTE) with the theme "Happy School"; and the public speaking competition "Stories of Ethics and Law," winning many high awards at the district and provincial levels.
“I believe that studying is the only opportunity for my family to escape poverty and for me to pursue my dream of becoming a police officer. Although the road ahead is still full of challenges, I will do my best,” said Kim Anh. As the class's Youth Union Secretary, Kim Anh always takes the lead in extracurricular activities, leading to a thriving class movement. She is also enthusiastic and active in local community activities.
Ms. Dang Thi Minh Hang, homeroom teacher of class 11/3, said that Kim Anh always thinks positively, is patient in her studies, and often helps weaker students to improve together. She is a shining example in learning and a motivation for the students of the school.
