At the time of this announcement, the Ma River's inflow to the Ba Thuoc 1 hydroelectric reservoir was 985 m³ /s; the downstream discharge from the Trung Son hydroelectric plant and the rainfall in the catchment area from Trung Son to Ba Thuoc 1 suggest that the inflow to the Ba Thuoc 1 reservoir is predicted to be between 750 m³ /s and 1,600 m³ /s.
Therefore, Hoang Anh Thanh Hoa Hydropower Joint Stock Company will continue to operate the flood discharge from Ba Thuoc 1 hydropower reservoir from 3:30 PM on July 30th and is expected to end at 3:00 PM on August 5th, 2025.
The spillway discharge rate ranges from 50 m³ /s to 900 m³ /s depending on the inflow to the reservoir. The flow rate through the turbines is 700 m³ /s. The total downstream water flow is expected to be from 750 m³ /s to 1,600 m³ /s.
The company has issued a notice requesting the People's Committees of Thiet Ong, Ba Thuoc, Dien Lu, and Quy Luong communes to urgently inform the people and villages along the Ma River to proactively plan to protect people, property, crops, and livestock... People are advised to absolutely avoid dangerous areas with a high risk of landslides and strong currents.
