Over the past period, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has effectively implemented intensive emulation campaigns to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) on December 22nd (1944-2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day on December 22nd (1989-2024). These campaigns have created a vibrant and widespread atmosphere of emulation, encouraging officers and soldiers throughout the force to strive to excellently fulfill all assigned tasks; firmly managing and protecting the territorial sovereignty and security of the national border areas and border gates of the province. At the same time, they have actively built and strengthened the political system in border communes, cared for the lives of ethnic minority people, aiming to create a border region with strong people's support.

We visited the Bac Son Border Guard Post at a time when the entire unit was enthusiastically competing to achieve outstanding results in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army on December 22nd (1944-2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day on December 22nd (1989-2024). From the Bac Son Border Guard Post headquarters to the various teams and stations, we witnessed a spirit of determination to excellently fulfill their duties.

These days, the unit's barracks seem to have been given a new look. The soldiers' living quarters and facilities have been renovated and upgraded to be more orderly, bright, green, clean, and beautiful. Under the green trees, vibrant flowerbeds display their colors, interspersed with flags, banners, and slogans.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Kien Hung, Political Officer of Bac Son Border Guard Station, said: Bac Son Border Guard Station is tasked with managing the area of 7 border and coastal communes and wards of Mong Cai City, with a border length of over 26km and a sea area of 50km2. To successfully complete its tasks, the Party Committee and the Command Board of the unit have implemented comprehensive and synchronized measures for border management and protection, combined with the implementation of emulation movements. Through this, officers and soldiers are encouraged to demonstrate a pioneering and creative spirit in carrying out the tasks of protecting territorial sovereignty and border security; training and combat readiness; preventing and combating various types of crimes; and participating in the economic , cultural, and social development of the border area.
Responding to the emulation movement launched by higher authorities, officers and soldiers of Bac Son Border Guard Station focused on closely monitoring key areas, accurately assessing the situation, and implementing comprehensive measures to manage and protect the border; effectively combating border crimes before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.
Notably, from the beginning of the year until now, the unit has organized 2,341 patrols/9,243 officers and soldiers to manage and firmly protect territorial sovereignty, border security, and maritime areas; prevent illegal entry and exit, and combat smuggling and commercial fraud. Through patrol and control work, a total of 15 cases/16 individuals have been detected, arrested, and processed; and the unit has coordinated the arrest of 9 cases.
Towards the traditional day
The nation is experiencing proud times as the glorious history of the Vietnam People's Army reaches its 80th anniversary, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. In Quang Ninh, the northeasternmost region of the country, border guards are carrying out widespread activities to celebrate this significant event through a high-intensity emulation campaign. This further contributes to building the positive image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.
To effectively implement the emulation movement, the Provincial Border Guard Command has focused on doing a good job of propaganda and education, raising awareness among officers and soldiers; thoroughly understanding and effectively implementing directives and resolutions of higher levels, especially Regulation No. 144-QĐ/TW dated May 9, 2024, of the Politburo on the revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and Party members in the new period; and effectively implementing the "5 resolutions" and "5 initiatives" as directed by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This has helped build officers and soldiers with strong political and ideological fortitude, a firm grasp of the situation, the schemes and tactics of hostile forces, high willpower and determination, and readiness to accept and successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to the firm protection of national sovereignty.
Po Hen Border Guard Station cooperates with Hai Son Kindergarten (Mong Cai City) to organize "Borderland Lesson" for students at Marker 1347(2).
Leading up to the traditional day, the soldiers in green uniforms have carried out many practical activities and tasks, creating a united, joyful, and vibrant atmosphere throughout their area of responsibility. Notable examples include organizing a meeting and exchange between officers and soldiers of the Quang Ninh Border Guard and singers from the Youth Theatre and friends from Hanoi; conducting visual and internal loudspeaker propaganda about the traditions of the Vietnam People's Army and the National Defense Day; offering incense to commemorate heroic martyrs; and holding working discussions on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army between the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Border Guard Command (China). They also participated in hundreds of man-days of work to help local people clean up the environment, visit and give gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and those who have contributed to the revolution; and organize cultural exchanges, football and volleyball matches with their sister units in the locality...
Colonel Le Xuan Men, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, stated: "In recent times, the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command have implemented numerous leadership and guidance measures to organize and carry out emulation movements and campaigns, creating a vibrant, widespread, and substantive atmosphere with many practical and effective models and approaches. These emulation movements consistently focus on successfully fulfilling key political tasks, making breakthroughs in new and challenging tasks, overcoming weaknesses, and promptly encouraging and motivating collectives and individuals to resolutely achieve their assigned tasks. This has fostered confidence and pride, clearly defining the honor and responsibility of officers and soldiers, and inspiring them to successfully complete all assigned duties."
With a systematic, serious, and responsible approach, the emulation movement has, over time, provided further motivation and created momentum for the Quang Ninh Border Guard Force to build strong agencies and units, with a team of officers and soldiers possessing firm political resolve and high determination, ready to accept and successfully complete all assigned tasks, multiplying the strength of the border with the support of the people, and firmly protecting national sovereignty and security.
