The village welcomes spring.

The roads are widened, clean, and brightly lit; in front of the houses, the yellow apricot blossoms and bougainvillea are trimmed and cared for, blooming brilliantly. The atmosphere of preparing for Tet spreads throughout the hamlets and villages, in sync with the changes of the new rural areas.

In Long Thanh commune, along the road bordering Giong Rieng commune, one side is shaded by trees, while the other side features well-maintained houses with neatly tended gardens. The twinkling streetlights create a peaceful atmosphere at night, giving residents a sense of security. Currently finishing her new house for Tet (Lunar New Year), Ms. Do Tuong Duy expressed: “I didn’t live here before, but I changed jobs, and then I fell in love with this road, so I built a new house here.” Ms. Tuong Duy’s family home is one of the houses contributing to the transformation of the area.

At dawn, Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Lieu and her husband, residents of Hoa Binh hamlet , Hoa Thuan commune, prepared buckets of paint, sandpaper, brushes, brooms, etc., to repaint their house for Tet (Lunar New Year). In front of the house, the bougainvillea bushes were meticulously trimmed. Ms. Lieu's neighbor, Mr. Le Van Dieu, also filled in the yard by the riverbank to prevent flooding and erosion, and planted a row of straight coconut trees. Not far away, along the same road, Mr. Bui Van Xuan carefully trimmed his bougainvillea hedge, adding to the festive atmosphere of welcoming spring in the rural area of Hoa Thuan commune.

In Ngoc Chuc commune, a series of key projects have been completed, bringing new houses, wide and beautiful roads and bridges to serve the people in welcoming the new year. Mr. Ly Thanh Luan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngoc Chuc commune said: "From July 1, 2025 to the present, the commune has implemented 4,464m of rural roads; built 10 new bridges and mobilized resources to build 38 houses; of which in January 2026, the commune mobilized resources to build 10 houses and handed over 5 houses, the remaining 5 houses are expected to be handed over by February 10, 2026."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bieu, a resident of Ngoc Chuc commune, shared that at over 80 years old and having lived here for more than 60 years, she has finally been able to travel on her dream road. “Having a wide, clean road makes it very exciting for me and many other residents. The wide road makes it easier for traders to come and buy agricultural products, and we no longer worry about a lack of buyers or being forced to accept low prices. With a wide road, cars can reach our houses. This Tet holiday will be more joyful, and it will be more convenient for children and grandchildren who live far away to visit their grandparents and parents.”

Preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year), late in the afternoon, Mr. Chiem Dien, residing in Vinh Phu hamlet, Binh An commune, was busily repotting and tending to the apricot blossom trees in front of his house. This year, Mr. Dien's family is happy because nearly 10 of his yellow apricot blossom trees didn't bloom early, thanks to his skillful care during the leap year. Mr. Dien's joy is further amplified by the fact that his 18 acres of cultivated land yielded a considerable profit from pineapples, betel nuts, and coconuts. Wiping the sweat from his brow, Mr. Dien proudly said: "This year, thanks to the effective application of irrigation techniques and off-season fruiting, the pineapple crop is highly productive, allowing my family to have a more comfortable Tet celebration."

Along the canal system in the communes of An Bien, Dong Thai, and An Minh, the air is filled with the bustling sounds of engines transporting harvested agricultural products. But perhaps the most impressive sight is the An Minh commune's administrative center, a former revolutionary base now adorned with a modern and dynamic "new look." Mr. Danh Vinh said: "Seeing the changes with the clean, tree-lined roads and the decorations of flags and flowers makes me very happy. Now, at night, I often go for a walk around this area; it feels like living in an urban area, not a remote one anymore."

Along the roads from the countryside to the bustling coastal urban areas, the breath of change is evident everywhere. Approaching the Lunar New Year, the northeasterly winds carry the salty scent of the sea and a touch of spring warmth, making the residents of Rach Gia ward more vibrant. The changes in Rach Gia are easily noticeable: completed construction projects, urban housing developments, and the opening of ports and wide roads connecting neighboring areas… Many were particularly impressed by the rapid increase in views of the promotional video when Phu Cuong Group introduced a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026 in Rach Gia, with an investment of over 20 billion VND.
