TPO - Regarding the complaints that students were notified by the school that their training would be "stopped" right before the start of the 2024-2025 school year due to parental concerns about the curriculum, the Department of Education and Training has issued a swift directive.
Regarding the public outcry over reports of students being notified by their schools that their training would be "stopped" just before the start of the 2024-2025 school year due to parental concerns about the curriculum, a representative from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stated on the morning of August 16th that they have received the information.
According to the representative, regarding this matter, the Department has requested the Principal of Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh to seriously implement a number of related contents.
The school is responsible for assigning and arranging students into classes in accordance with regulations. The rearrangement of students into classes can only be carried out with the consensus of all students and their parents, and with the unanimous agreement of all teachers in the school's teaching staff.
The Department also requested the school to strictly adhere to the regulations of the Education sector, ensuring the legitimate rights and aspirations of the school's students.
At the same time, the Department requested the school to report the results of the implementation to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (via the Secondary Education Department and the Department's Inspectorate) before August 16th.
Furthermore, the Department of Education and Training requires Ngo Quyen High School - Dong Anh to strictly comply with the regulations on public disclosure of school information as stipulated in Circular 09/2024/TT-BGDĐT dated June 3, 2024, of the Ministry of Education and Training, which regulates transparency in the activities of educational institutions within the national education system.
Information to be publicly disclosed as required includes: General information about the educational institution; financial revenue and expenditure; conditions for ensuring the quality of general education activities; and plans and results of general education activities.
Previously, public opinion was stirred by the news that a 12th-grade student from Ngo Quyen High School in Dong Anh received a decision from the school to discontinue their studies because they did not meet the training requirements requested by their parents. The suspension of studies took effect from August 10th.
According to the girl's father, on August 7th, he was authorized by most parents in the class to meet with the school principal regarding the organization of the high-quality class, as the school had only given vague answers previously.
During the meeting, this parent only asked more specific questions about tuition fee increases and details of class organization. However, the principal repeatedly emphasized that if any parent found the environment unsuitable, they should transfer their child to another school.
Two days later (August 10th), he received a notice from his daughter's homeroom teacher stating that the training program would be terminated because the school did not meet the training requirements requested by the parents.
Reportedly, the girl's family has now withdrawn her records to transfer her to another private school. The parents believe that the school's actions are counterproductive and negatively impact their daughter's psychology and reputation.
