"Spring in the Homeland" in Sweden

Attending the ceremony were the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden (and concurrently to the Republic of Latvia), Tran Van Tuan, and his wife; on the Swedish side, Ms. Camilla Mellander, Director-General for Trade Policy and former Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam; Ambassadors of ASEAN countries to Sweden; some local friends; and more than 100 representatives of the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan extended New Year greetings and informed the community about Vietnam's socio -economic development achievements in 2024.

In 2024, the two countries celebrated the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Many important events took place in the capitals and throughout the localities of both countries, especially the high-level visit of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to Sweden in November 2024 and 23 other delegations from ministries, sectors, and localities within Vietnam visiting to work, exchange experiences, and promote cooperation.

These visits have contributed to further strengthening the close and trusting relationship between the leaders and people of the two countries in all fields. Recalling the proud achievements of the bilateral relationship, the Ambassador affirmed that he will focus on promoting bilateral relations between Vietnam and Sweden in many areas, including researching and proposing the possibility of upgrading the partnership between the two countries.

Ambassador Tran Van Tuan also highly appreciated the contributions of more than 22,000 Vietnamese expatriates in Sweden and Latvia to both Vietnam and the two host countries in many fields, especially in knowledge, trade, and investment. He expressed his hope that in the new year of the Snake (2025), the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia will continue to maintain the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, promote the good values ​​of the nation, and preserve and develop the Vietnamese language. The Ambassador affirmed that the Embassy will always be a common home, a solid bridge, accompanying the community in all activities and efforts to build an increasingly close-knit and thriving Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia.

2025 is a crucial year, of special significance for the Vietnamese nation. It marks the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the nation, and the 50th anniversary of national reunification. It is also the final year crucial for the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and a pivotal year ushering in a new era of national progress. Vietnam is standing at a new historical starting point, posing new tasks for the country and for each individual Vietnamese person.

Representatives of the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia expressed their joy at attending the community Tet celebration organized by the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​emphasizing that this is one of the annual activities that the community looks forward to in order to socialize, share feelings, and connect with their roots and homeland every time Tet comes around.

Attendees enjoyed spectacular artistic performances by artists from the community, as well as traditional Vietnamese dishes.
