The Vietnamese spirit shines brightly on the journey of integration

From Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, a total of 113 members left on December 7, bringing the total number of teams that went to Thailand to 16. Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, once again emphasized the determination of the entire delegation with 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, 19 experts participating in 47 out of 66 events, corresponding to 443 competition events.

The head of the delegation affirmed that each athlete will bring the will in their head, the fire in their heart and the inner strength to overcome their own limits, strive to achieve the highest results, and bring glory to the Fatherland, as instructed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Departure Ceremony.

After more than two hours of flight, the delegation landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport, one of the largest international gateways in Thailand. The 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee arranged a separate lane for immigration procedures and SEA Games card activation, helping the delegation quickly settle down and get ready to enter the competition.

As planned, the flag-raising ceremony of the Vietnamese delegation will take place on the afternoon of December 8 at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, which unites 11 Southeast Asian countries in a solemn opening ceremony for the Games. In Chonburi, the second flag-raising ceremony will take place on December 11 at Wyndham Jomtien, creating a series of special events with the meaning of solidarity and friendship.

The flag-raising ceremony is not only a starting ritual but also a symbol of the aspirations of the regional sports movement. When the red flag with yellow star is raised to the sound of the national anthem, each Vietnamese athlete feels empowered, reminded of their responsibility, honor and sacred pride when competing under the national flag.

The harmony of ASEAN flags not only represents the identity of each nation but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, friendship and determination to work together to build a prosperous and developed Southeast Asian community.

Desire to conquer and belief in Vietnamese mettle

The 33rd SEA Games will officially open on the evening of December 9 at Rajamangala Stadium, the venue that witnessed the moment the Vietnamese men's football team won the ASEAN Cup on January 5.

Returning to this place full of memories, young faces like Khuat Van Khang or Tran Trung Kien will certainly bring with them many new emotions and aspirations. The national U22 team is one of the great hopes of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at this Congress.

Despite the loss of strength when Van Truong was injured, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team still maintained a strong fighting spirit and won 2-1 against Laos in the opening match. The final match of the group stage against Malaysia on December 11 is certainly not an easy challenge, but the whole team is trying their best with the goal of participating in the next round.

Along with U22, Vietnam teams in many other sports are also ready to compete, carrying the expectations of fans. Swimming will start the competition from December 10, with the focus on Huy Hoang and his teammates after a long period of serious preparation. Facing strong opponents in the region, Vietnamese swimming is still expected to continue to assert its position with effort, will and reasonable tactics.

Analysis of the balance of power shows that the medal race will be extremely fierce, but the never-give-up spirit of the Vietnamese players is the fulcrum for them to aim for the highest goals, not only at the SEA Games but also further at the Asian Games and the Olympics.

In addition to the key events, the Rowing and Canoeing teams are also ready to compete with confidence. Canoeing was absent from the previous SEA Games, but this return brings many expectations when Vietnamese athletes have demonstrated excellent performance in the region and continent with 10 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Championships and 3 gold medals at the 2025 Asian Championships.

Rowers like Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong are facing the opportunity to bring home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation on the competition day of December 11. If Canoeing succeeds early, it will be an important morale boost, creating momentum for the entire delegation to embark on a long journey at the Games.

The 33rd SEA Games takes place in a context where Vietnamese sports are on the rise, receiving systematic investment and aiming for a longer-term vision. Each major tournament is a stepping stone for athletes to challenge themselves, gain experience and expand opportunities for international integration.

More importantly, it is an opportunity for Vietnamese sports to demonstrate the image of a dynamic, courageous nation that knows how to overcome difficulties and constantly strives for the country's flag.

As the flags were raised at Hua Mark or Wyndham Jomtien, as each athlete's footsteps headed towards the starting line, fans were once again inspired by their perseverance, courage and desire to win.

In that journey, each member of the Vietnam Sports Delegation carries a strong message about the Vietnamese spirit of resilience, humanity, solidarity and readiness to overcome all challenges to reach the top. SEA Games 33 is therefore not only a sports playground but also a place to affirm the mettle, will and aspiration of Vietnam Sports on the journey of deep integration with the region and the world.
