- In recent years, Yen Vuong commune, Huu Lung district has promoted propaganda and mobilized people to promote the potential and advantages of the locality to develop the economy . Thanks to that, it has contributed to increasing income and effectively reducing poverty in the area.
Yen Vuong commune consists of 5 villages with 739 households and 3,500 people. With the advantage of nearly 900 hectares of agricultural land and more than 2,000 hectares of rocky land (accounting for nearly 90% of the total natural area of the commune), in recent times, the Party Committee and the commune government have promoted and mobilized people to develop production development models, focusing on developing fruit trees.
Mr. Tran Van Huong, Vice Chairman of Yen Vuong Commune People's Committee, said: In 2021, the whole commune still had 141 poor households and 58 near-poor households. To effectively reduce poverty, from 2021 to now, every year the Party Committee and the commune government have directed specialized staff to develop specific poverty reduction plans, focusing on reviewing and carefully classifying poor households according to multidimensional poverty criteria. From there, clearly identify the causes of poverty of each household and group of households to have appropriate support solutions, in which priority is given to supporting the development of local economic models.
Accordingly, from 2021 to present, from capital sources supporting production development under the national target program for economic and social development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction, the commune government has deployed support of nearly 30 tons of fertilizer for 163 households to grow and care for custard apples; supported 24 households with breeding cows to develop livestock. At the same time, the commune government also pays attention to instructing people on techniques in growing and caring for crops and livestock; supporting 12 poor households with agricultural machinery and tools, supporting people to change their jobs...
Along with that, the Party Committee and the communal government pay attention to and direct associations and organizations to guide people to access preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank. Up to now, the whole commune has 339 poor and near-poor households that have borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding debt of over 23 billion VND, mainly for developing custard apple, sugarcane, tobacco and poultry farming...
Ms. Phung Thi Lan, Chuc Quan village said: Previously, my family had difficult economic circumstances and was a poor household in the commune. In 2021, I was guided by commune officials to borrow 100 million VND in preferential capital at the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to care for and develop custard apple cultivation. Up to now, my family has over 600 custard apple trees, with an output of more than 3.5 tons of fruit/year. Thanks to that, the family has an average income of over 120 million VND/year. Currently, my family has risen out of poverty.
In addition, the commune government also pays attention to and guides people to complete loan applications according to Resolution 08 dated December 10, 2019 of the Provincial People's Council on special policies to encourage investment, develop cooperation, link production and consumption of agricultural and rural products in the province in the period of 2020-2025 and Resolution No. 15 dated July 17, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council amending and supplementing a number of articles of Resolution 08. Up to now, the whole commune has 6 households receiving loans with an amount of 4.2 billion VND to develop custard apple cultivation. At the same time, every year, the commune coordinates to organize from 1 to 3 training courses to guide people on techniques for planting, caring for custard apples, raising livestock and poultry, etc.
Up to now, the whole commune has over 280 hectares of custard apples, with an output of 1,800 tons, bringing in an economic value of about 35 billion VND in 2024; over 30 hectares of Thai custard apples; over 30 hectares of tobacco plants and over 20,000 poultry...
With the activeness of the Party Committee, the communal government and the proactive efforts of the people, poverty reduction work in the commune has achieved positive results. Currently, the average income per capita in the commune is 44 million VND/person/year, an increase of 13 million VND/person/year compared to 2021. By the end of 2024, the whole commune will have only 52 poor and near-poor households (a decrease of 147 households compared to 2021), a decrease of 73.9% compared to 2021.
With such outstanding results, in April 2025, Yen Vuong commune was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025. This is an important motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of the commune to continue their efforts to reduce poverty in the coming time.
