Having taken photographs since 2003, his favorite subjects are landscapes, followed by everyday life. Nguyen Van Su says that his passion for photography simply stemmed from finding Sa Pa, where he lives, incredibly beautiful. The stunning scenery, captivating and stretching out before his eyes, inspired him to travel and photograph, falling in love with the misty land and, consequently, with photography.
From his radiant smile and cheerful face, he exudes optimism and a love for life. His personal page chronicles moments of conquering mountain passes and climbing slopes, waiting with fellow photographers for sunrise, chasing clouds, capturing snow-covered mountains and hills, flowers and foliage... spring trips, festivals, and the daily life and unique culture of ethnic minority communities in the highlands, not only in Lao Cai province but also in many other provinces in the region.
“Thanks to photography, I can appreciate how beautiful the misty land where I live is, and it has also made me more optimistic about life. It's as if the plants and flowers are beckoning ahead, providing endless inspiration for me to create more. In 2007, my photos were selected for exhibition at the Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival, which was a great encouragement for me,” Nguyen Van Su shared.
