YouTube Premium Lite Launched

The new plan allows users to watch “most” YouTube videos ad-free, including gaming, fashion, beauty, and news content. However, ads will still appear in music videos, Shorts, as well as when searching and browsing content.

“YouTube has something for everyone, from scripted dramas to podcasts and gaming livestreams, all from their favorite creators,” said Jack Greenberg, director of product management for YouTube Premium. “With Premium Lite, people can enjoy their favorite content with less interruption. We’ll continue to expand the Premium Lite pilot to more countries this year and introduce more ways for people to get the most out of their subscription.”

Who is YouTube Premium Lite aimed at?

While the YouTube Premium Lite plan lacks many of the premium features, it's still a compelling option for those who want to watch videos ad-free. This plan may be worth considering for younger users who spend more time watching YouTube than traditional TV channels or other streaming services.

YouTube is currently rolling out its Premium Lite plan in the US, Australia, Germany, and Thailand, and plans to expand the program to more countries later this year, although there is no specific information on which countries will be added.
