VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2023 IONIQ5 Cup is a race organized by VnExpress and FPT Online Services Joint Stock Company, which will start on the night of November 25 and early morning of November 26.
This year's race will bring a different experience to participants with a completely different route compared to 2022, especially the 42 km route, where athletes will run a non-repetitive loop. The route focuses on famous spots in the capital, on streets in the districts: Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh, Long Bien, Tay Ho.
Held for the third time in Hanoi, the race has expanded its scale to 11,000 athletes with many new features in the organization, promising to bring many interesting experiences to participants.
The third night race held in Hanoi
This year's tournament schedule takes place over 3 days, from November 24 to 26. During the first two days, the organizing committee opens the area to distribute bibs and items to athletes.
The Kun Marathon for Kids took place on the morning of November 25, with the participation of 2,000 children from 6 to 10 years old. They will conquer a route about 1 km long, with some interesting challenges and obstacles along the way.
November 26 is the official race day with the first 42km race starting at 1am, the 21km race starting at 1:30am, the 10km race and the 5km race starting at 4am and 5am respectively. The starting and finishing points are located on Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), about 500m apart.
This year's race has notable changes compared to the 2023 system. 11,000 athletes have the opportunity to win prizes, according to distance and age group, with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND.
In particular, following the 2022 season, this year's race will have a team competition category with up to 50 teams. This is a place for clubs and running groups to show their solidarity and strive for the flag.
Athletes participating in the test run
Along the route, in addition to the super long water stations, the organizers also arranged separate water tables for the elite runner group (seeds). This helps high-performance athletes confidently conquer their goals with the best physical condition and support.
Athletes also need to be more aware of the age requirement. Accordingly, athletes can only choose one distance to compete and must meet the age requirement. For the 42 km distance, athletes must be 18 years or older. For the 21 km distance, athletes must be 16 years or older and for the 10 km distance, athletes must be 12 years or older. Age is calculated on the official competition day of the tournament.
