Jannik Sinner - Carlos Alcaraz (1h, September 8)

The 2025 Grand Slam season will conclude with a dream final at the US Open, where two great rivals, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, will face each other. Having won the last seven Grand Slam titles together, they will make history in New York by becoming the first players in the Open Era to compete in three Grand Slam finals in the same season. Following Roland Garros and Wimbledon, the US Open final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 8th (1 AM Vietnam time) will offer a double prize.

Whoever wins in New York will also simultaneously take the number one spot in the ATP rankings. Sinner has held this position for 65 consecutive weeks, while Alcaraz is aiming to reclaim the top spot he last held in September 2023.

This "winner takes all" match could also be crucial in the race for the year-end ATP No. 1 ranking. Alcaraz currently leads Sinner by 1,890 points in the ATP Live Race to Turin. However, if he wins in New York, the Italian player could narrow the gap to 1,190 points. Both players have already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, the final major tournament of the year.

The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz has become one of the most captivating matchups in modern sports . Three years ago in New York, Alcaraz saved a crucial point in an impressive five-set quarterfinal victory, en route to winning the 2022 US Open. Since then, every encounter between these two players has been filled with excitement and outstanding performances.

Prior to this year's Roland Garros, Sinner and Alcaraz had never met in a Grand Slam final. Now, as they prepare for their third consecutive Grand Slam final, they have become genuine rivals on their quest for titles.

After the semi-final match, when asked about his feelings about facing Alcaraz again, Sinner shared: “He’s the one who pushed me to my limits, which is great because that’s when you get the best feedback a player can get. We’ve played against each other quite a lot recently, so things are gradually changing.”

"Always when we step onto the court, we're more aware of things, because he or I, we're both trying to prepare for the match in different ways and tactics. It's great for this sport to have competition, hopefully there will be some great matches ahead. And then we'll see. I'm a fan of these challenges, and I like putting myself in those positions and seeing how it plays out."

Alcaraz, who leads Sinner 9-5 in their head-to-head series, shared: “I always learn from previous matches. If I have to face Sinner, I will obviously learn from the most recent matches I’ve played against him. The last match, or the last three matches, I’ll look back and see what I did wrong, what I did well in those matches, just to get to the finals in a good way.”

Both Sinner and Alcaraz are in impressive form at Flushing Meadows. Sinner is on a 27-match winning streak at major tournaments on hard courts, having lost only two sets in his last six matches. Meanwhile, the second seed Alcaraz hasn't lost a set and has been sharp in defeating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

"I think Sinner's fitness has improved a lot, that's obviously no secret. He's talked about needing to improve his physical condition, and I think in the last two years he's improved a lot physically. His matches really demand a lot of stamina for him to be able to play at 100% for two, three, four hours, I think that's the biggest progress he's made in recent years," Alcaraz said of Sinner, who had to stop playing due to stomach problems in the semi-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime, but later declared "nothing to worry about".

Sinner, for his part, praised Alcaraz's serving ability: "Alcaraz has improved his serving a lot. I feel he serves much better with better speed, but his win rate is always very high. Much more consistent, because perhaps before he was inconsistent. Now he is very stable."

While it's hard to believe that Sinner (24 years old, 4 Grand Slam titles) and Alcaraz (22 years old, 5 Grand Slam titles) can further improve upon the excellent form they've consistently displayed, fans are accustomed to witnessing surprises from both stars. In the early hours of September 8th, inside the 23,000-seat Arthur Ashe Stadium, the perfect setting unfolded for a dramatic continuation of the relentless rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner.
