On the morning of June 29th, the 18th Becamex Group Community Football Tournament – Becamex Group Cup (formerly the Binh Duong New City Football Tournament) officially opened. Considered the largest 11-a-side amateur football tournament in the country, it further affirms its position as a leading community sports event in the Southern region.
This year, the tournament continues to set a record with 196 teams and nearly 5,000 players, expanding registration to include teams from Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, and neighboring provinces.
The tournament is held across four venues with a knockout format to select 16 teams for the final round. The total prize money is over 200 million VND, with the champion receiving 100 million VND. In addition, participating teams also receive financial support and uniforms.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh Huy delivered the opening speech for the tournament.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh Huy, Deputy General Director of Becamex Group, said: "After 17 seasons of professional organization, the tournament has become the largest community playground in the country for workers, with this year marking a record 196 participating teams."
The renaming of the tournament reflects Becamex's new vision and long-term commitment to caring for the spiritual well-being of its employees and connecting the community in the Southern key economic region. We are confident that this year's season will be vibrant, exciting, and a great success."
Coach Anh Duc, along with leaders and representatives from various departments and agencies, participated in the opening ceremony of the tournament.
Mr. Vu Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Binh Duong Football Federation, also emphasized: "Throughout the past 18 years, the tournament has become an annual meeting point for young football enthusiasts. Especially, this year's tournament takes place in the context of the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , opening up many opportunities for connection between localities."
With its increasing professionalism and quality, the tournament promises to continue to be the largest community sports event in the country.
