This year's Humanitarian Month runs from April to May 31, 2026, with two peak weeks from May 8 - International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day - to May 19 - the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the founder and first honorary president of the Vietnam Red Cross Society .

Ms. Cam Thi Chuyen, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: "To spread awareness of activities during the Humanitarian Month, the Society is coordinating with mass media agencies to increase the airtime for promoting the 'Good People, Good Deeds - Working Together to Build a Compassionate Community' movement. At the same time, we are collaborating on creating news articles and reports for mass media; communicating on social networks like Facebook, Zalo, and the Provincial Red Cross Society's Humanitarian Newsletter... We are also directing Red Cross Societies in communes and wards to simultaneously organize practical activities aimed at the community during the two peak weeks of the Humanitarian Month."

In addition, the Provincial Red Cross Society has advised and proposed to Party committees and authorities at all levels to organize humanitarian activities with many practical and meaningful initiatives; promoting resource mobilization and building a humanitarian fund, thereby proactively carrying out humanitarian assistance activities. Support for vulnerable groups in the community is implemented in a sustainable manner, contributing to ensuring social security.

During the Humanitarian Month, Red Cross branches throughout the province aim to raise 5 billion VND to support over 1,000 humanitarian causes. According to the plan, the Provincial Red Cross will support the construction and repair of toilets, clean water systems, and bookshelves for one school in Suoi To commune; donate over 100 gifts to students in difficult circumstances; organize a "Humanitarian Market - Day of Compassion" for 300 poor and disadvantaged households; provide free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicine to 300 people; and organize voluntary blood donation drives in Thuan Chau district and at Tay Bac University. Red Cross branches in communes, wards, and affiliated units will organize "Day of Compassion" programs integrating blood donation, zero-cost stalls, and experiential activities; assist 20 disadvantaged individuals; and each affiliated unit will assist at least 5 individuals.

In March and April, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation organized blood donation events in Moc Chau, Van Ho, Yen Chau, and Quynh Nhai districts. The events attracted nearly 2,000 young people, civil servants, officials, soldiers, and residents from various communes and wards who registered to donate blood; over 1,600 units of blood were collected and transferred to medical facilities, ensuring a sufficient blood supply for emergency care and treatment.

Ms. Me Thi Dien, a civil servant from Phieng Khoai commune, who participated in the voluntary blood donation day in Yen Chau commune, said: "This is the fourth time I have donated blood. I hope that my blood can help patients have a better chance of living. Every time I donate blood, I feel very happy, and I will continue to participate in blood donation drives organized by the Red Cross."

At the end of April, the Provincial Red Cross Society, in coordination with various organizations and sponsors, organized a gift-giving event for students at Keo Bo school, Chieng Dong A Primary School, Yen Chau commune. They donated 140 gift packages including warm blankets, school supplies, 10 bicycles, and 10 scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have strived to excel in their studies. This is one of the practical activities in response to the 2026 Humanitarian Month, contributing to sharing difficulties and providing motivation for students to study hard and succeed.

In pursuit of the Humanitarian Month objectives, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province continue to implement humanitarian activities in the community, creating bridges of compassion, further strengthening solidarity, and building a sustainable community where no one is left behind on their journey to a better life.
