Warmth of national sentiment, brotherhood

Responding to the "Nationwide Campaign to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" launched by the Government, Son La province achieved its goal 169 days ahead of schedule and far exceeded the target. This result demonstrates the political determination of the Party committees and authorities, the pivotal role of the Fatherland Front at all levels, and the joint efforts of the armed forces, businesses, and the people. These new, spacious houses have become a vivid symbol of national unity, spreading humanitarian values throughout the community.

No one should be left behind.

During the period 2020-2025, thanks to the attention of the Central Government and the efforts of all levels and sectors, Son La supported the construction and repair of 9,317 temporary and dilapidated houses with a total budget of over 441 billion VND, of which social contributions accounted for the majority with over 383 billion VND.

Building on the achievements, and in accordance with Decision No. 539/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2025, of the Prime Minister , the province continues to mobilize comprehensive resources such as local budget, central government support, national target programs, along with the participation of businesses, armed forces, and the people. The movement to eliminate temporary housing is taking place vigorously, effectively, and economically, helping people have new homes before the rainy season.

Ms. Giang Thi Huong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: "The Fatherland Front at all levels has taken the lead in launching and calling for widespread support, coordinating closely with the government and member organizations to ensure that resources reach the right recipients. These acts of sharing have helped the poor settle down and spread the spirit of 'For the poor - leaving no one behind'."

The police of Muong Bu commune presented gifts to Mrs. Lo Thi Lieng's household in Pet village.

The joint efforts of businesses and the people are a highlight. From 2024 to the present, the "For the Poor" Fund throughout the province has mobilized more than 61.5 billion VND, including 25 billion VND contributed by Viettel, 5 billion VND by Agribank , 5.5 billion VND by the Central "For the Poor" Fund Campaign Committee, 20.4 billion VND by Xuan Thien Group, 5 billion VND by Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise, and over 236 million VND from other units and individuals in the area.

The movement has also spread many innovative models, such as: "Workdays for the Poor," "Officials and civil servants helping poor households eliminate temporary housing,"... contributing to strengthening community solidarity. A prime example is the Provincial Veterans Association, which from 2013 to 2025 eliminated 1,221 temporary houses, mobilizing 59.87 billion VND; specifically, in the 2020-2025 period, it eliminated 718 houses with 34.3 billion VND, of which 496 houses, worth 23.2 billion VND, were funded by the association's own efforts along with the joint efforts of businesses, philanthropists, and members.

The belief in "The Party's will and the people's hearts"

The "three-solid" houses – solid foundation, solid frame, solid roof – have been completed, becoming a solid support for thousands of families. In Pi Tay village, Muong La commune, the new house of Ms. Vi Thi Quan, a single mother with congenital deafness and muteness, was inaugurated before the Lunar New Year 2025. The house has given her renewed strength to raise her children and rise out of poverty.

In Ta Bu village, Muong Bu commune, upon receiving her new house, Mrs. Lo Thi Bien emotionally shared: "All my life I've dreamed of having a decent house. Thanks to the care and support of the State, philanthropists, and the contributions of the villagers, I can now enjoy my old age with peace of mind, living happier and healthier."

Chieng Hoa is a particularly disadvantaged mountainous commune in the province. The commune completed the demolition of 211 temporary houses before May 15, 2025. Currently, 17 poor and near-poor households are still receiving support for new house construction and repairs. These are households that emerged after the review on May 15, 2025. Mr. Luong Van Duyen, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said: "The commune's Fatherland Front always proactively propagates, mobilizes, and monitors to ensure that all disadvantaged households receive timely support. Currently, we are directing the communes to urge the villages, mobilize forces and labor to support the households, striving to complete and hand over the new houses to the households before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026."

At the conference summarizing the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, held on May 15, 2025, Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religion Nong Thi Ha affirmed: With high determination and great efforts, Son La province is the first province in the northern mountainous region to achieve the program ahead of schedule. Particularly impressive is the province's approach in mobilizing the entire political system, soliciting all resources, and creating consensus among the people in implementing the temporary house elimination program. The movement clearly demonstrates the value of the traditional "mutual support" and is a vivid testament to "the Party's will and the people's aspirations."

Building on the achievements, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will continue to strengthen its central role in uniting people, promote mobilization and supervision, and promptly replicate good models and effective practices; continue to review newly emerging temporary and dilapidated houses, proactively mobilize resources to support and ensure that people have solid housing.

The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is clear evidence of the strength of national unity in the new era. These sturdy houses ignite hope and aspirations for change for thousands of families, enabling them to settle down, build stable livelihoods, and create increasingly prosperous and happy lives.
