This update solidifies Amazon Q Developer as a powerful tool trusted by developers globally to discuss system architecture, create documentation, design user interfaces, and develop applications.
While English remains the dominant language of programming, modern software development increasingly requires tools that support collaboration across global teams. Developers are using Amazon Q Developer to discuss application architecture decisions, write documentation, design user interfaces, and develop applications that serve users around the world .
With expanded multilingual support, Amazon Q Developer helps developers communicate naturally and fluently about complex technical concepts in their preferred language, whether they are designing system architecture, creating documentation, or building an application localization strategy.
Developers can now receive full feedback in multiple languages such as Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, or Vietnamese, ensuring both technical accuracy and semantic sophistication. In addition, Q Developer proactively suggests follow-up questions and responses in the language the user has selected, providing a smoother and more intuitive experience for developers globally. The ability to communicate naturally in any language helps developers stay focused and creative, minimizing the distraction of constantly switching languages.
The extension language is currently available in the integrated development environment (IDE) and command-line interface (CLI), with plans to roll out soon to the AWS Management Console. In the IDE, features such as chat, inline chat, inline suggestion, agents, and more now support more spoken languages. For example, users can chat directly with Q Developer in Vietnamese right in the dialog box to request adding TSDoc comments to their code. Q Developer will understand and respond by adding comments in Vietnamese and recording the method.
Amazon Q Developer is now ready to support global development teams, whether it’s a team in Seoul creating documentation in Korean, a startup in Madrid designing a system architecture in Spanish, or a team of engineers in Vietnam collaborating in Vietnamese. Expanded language support is available to both Free and Pro users starting today.
