Settling down for ethnic minorities

With the active participation of the Party Committee, local authorities and the support of the community, the dream of a decent house for many poor ethnic minority households in Tra Vinh province has become a reality, people can work with peace of mind and escape poverty.

Tra Vinh is a typical province in effectively implementing Project 1 on supporting residential land, housing, production land and domestic water for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. Thereby, it contributes significantly to the implementation of the socio -economic development goals of ethnic minority areas in general and the construction and renovation of houses, ensuring safety and stabilizing life in particular. Implementing Project 1 in 2022 and 2023, Tra Vinh will support 50 households with residential land, with a total cost of nearly 1.6 billion VND; 737 households will be supported with housing, with a total cost of nearly 34 billion VND; 508 households will be supported with job conversion, with a total cost of over 5 billion VND; 418 households will benefit from domestic water, with a total cost of nearly 1.3 billion VND.

According to Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, at the beginning of 2024, Tra Vinh province still had 3,416 poor households and 6,773 near-poor households. Of which, 1,827 Khmer poor households accounted for 2.03%; 2,926 Khmer near-poor households accounted for 3.25%. In 2024, Tra Vinh province continued to implement projects with a total budget of National Target Program 1719 of over 260.3 billion VND. Of which, Project 1 supported 25 households with residential land; 319 households with housing; job conversion for 203 households; distributed domestic water for 175 households; continued construction of 3 centralized water works.

The practical and effective methods in implementing Project 1 in Tra Vinh have helped poor ethnic minority households have solid and solid houses. From there, it helps poor households strive to develop the economy, reduce poverty, and contribute to making the lives of ethnic minorities increasingly stable.
