Thanks to the active involvement of local Party committees and authorities, and the collective support of the community, the dream of a decent home has become a reality for many poor ethnic minority households in Tra Vinh province, allowing them to work and produce with peace of mind and rise out of poverty.

Tra Vinh is a prime example of a province that has successfully implemented Project 1 on supporting land for housing, production land, and clean water for ethnic minority and mountainous communities. This has significantly contributed to achieving the socio -economic development goals of ethnic minority areas in general, and specifically to building and renovating housing, ensuring safety and stability in people's lives. During Project 1 in 2022 and 2023, Tra Vinh provided land for housing to 50 households with a total budget of nearly 1.6 billion VND; housing support to 737 households with a total budget of nearly 34 billion VND; vocational retraining support to 508 households with a total budget of over 5 billion VND; and access to clean water for 418 households with a total budget of nearly 1.3 billion VND.

According to Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province, at the beginning of 2024, Tra Vinh province still had 3,416 poor households and 6,773 near-poor households. Of these, 1,827 households were poor Khmer ethnic households, accounting for 2.03%; and 2,926 households were near-poor Khmer ethnic households, accounting for 3.25%. In 2024, Tra Vinh province continued to implement projects with a total budget of over 260.3 billion VND under the National Target Program 1719. Specifically, Project 1 provided support to 25 households for land; 319 households for housing; vocational retraining for 203 households; decentralized water supply for 175 households; and continued construction of 3 centralized water supply projects.

The practical and effective methods implemented in Project 1 in Tra Vinh have helped poor ethnic minority households have solid and stable housing. This has enabled these poor households to strive for improvement, develop their economy, reduce poverty, and contribute to the increasingly stable lives of ethnic minorities.
