Approximately 152,000 students in Ho Chi Minh City began their 10th grade entrance exams this morning, June 1st. At the exam center at Ly Thanh Tong Secondary School in Chanh Hung ward, parents started bringing their children in as early as 6 a.m.
There are three distinct moods among parents and students observed at the exam gates this year. First, anxiety; second, confidence and joy; and third, a complete lack of tension or apparent relaxation. Even as candidates entered the school grounds and lined up in front of their exam rooms, many parents remained outside the gates, watching their children. Today is Monday, the first working day of the week, but many families have temporarily set aside their work to prioritize their children's studies and exams.
