Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, India's Minister of Oil and Gas, inaugurated the country's first E85 fuel distribution station in the capital city of New Delhi.
The official launch of E85 fuel at Indian Oil's Pusa Road store marks the beginning of the commercial rollout of this high-ethanol fuel.
The Indian Minister of Oil and Gas added: The ethanol blending rate has increased from 1.53% in 2014 to 20% now, achieving the target five years ahead of schedule.
According to the country's authorities, E85 is a high-ethanol blended fuel, consisting of 80-85% ethanol and 14-19% gasoline, specifically designed for use in vehicles that run on flexible fuel systems.
This initiative aims to promote the use of flexible fuel vehicles capable of operating on ethanol blends from E20 to E100, without restricting consumers to using only a single blend.
