After three successful tests, India has successfully conducted its first night-time test launch of the new generation ballistic missile Agni Prime.

According to a VNA reporter in New Delhi, India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) recently successfully test-fired the Agni Prime ballistic missile off the coast of Odisha state.
Experts at data analytics firm GlobalData described the success as “a major milestone for India.”
After three successful tests, India has successfully conducted its first night-time test launch of the Agni Prime missile.
According to a statement from the Indian Ministry of Defense , this launch is a confirmation of the accuracy and reliability of the missile system.
This success is another step towards putting the system into service in the armed forces.
“The successful development of the Agni Prime missile is a major milestone for India, demonstrating its progress in indigenous weapons production and its ambition to achieve self-reliance in advanced missile technologies,” said Kandlikar Venkatesh, defense and aerospace analyst at GlobalData.
Expert Venkatesh believes that the successful development of the Agni Prime missile system has geopolitical significance, showing that India has improved its military capabilities and is committed to maintaining a credible deterrence posture.
“This message can influence the calculations and behavior of neighboring countries, promoting stability through deterrence,” he stressed.
With its lighter weight and better mobility, the Agni Prime is a more difficult target for enemy air defences to intercept, enhancing India's strike capabilities.
This advancement elevates India's status as a technologically sophisticated military power.
