Suoi Rua Hamlet (Song Can Tay Hamlet, Ba Ngoi Ward) has 78 households with more than 300 people. Previously, the lack of domestic water was a long-standing concern for the people here. Thanks to the participation of the local government and the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, a domestic water supply project with a total investment of nearly 4.6 billion VND has been implemented in the area. Ms. Thi Cuoi (Suoi Rua Hamlet) shared: “Previously, people in the village had to go to the stream to get water for daily use; in the dry season, the water was low, so they had to buy water by the can. Now, the clean water system has reached every house, and the whole village is very happy.”

In Moi Hamlet, Suoi Hai Hamlet and Ba Hung Hamlet (in Giai Phong Village, Ba Ngoi Ward), the province also invested in a project to connect the domestic water supply system with a total cost of nearly 5 billion VND. People were also supported with barrels and water tanks to proactively store and use clean water.

In the communes of Khanh Son, Tay Khanh Son, Dong Khanh Son, the project to build a domestic water system with a total investment of 10 billion VND from the state budget has been and is being implemented. The project includes the main items: Water collection headworks, concrete sand discharge tanks, raw water pipelines to the treatment area, automatic filtration system, storage tanks, operating houses, clean water supply pipelines and network pipelines for people in the communes. When completed, the system will have an average water supply capacity of 853m³/day and night, with a maximum capacity of over 1,000m³/day and night. Ms. Tro Thi Oanh (Ta Nia village, Dong Khanh Son commune) said: “My house is on a high hill, I can't dig a well, I have to use stream water. I have to buy drinking water. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said: Implementing the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, by the end of March 2025, the whole province had built 19 centralized water works; supported nearly 1,040 households using scattered water and more than 2,670 households using centralized water. Up to now, nearly 100% of ethnic minorities have been using hygienic water. Water supply works not only solve the shortage of water for daily life, especially during the hot season when streams and wells are dry, but also meet the urgent wishes of the people, helping them feel secure in living and developing the economy.

In the coming time, localities will continue to review and assess the needs for investment and expansion of water supply works in areas affected by natural disasters, droughts and climate change. At the same time, promote propaganda to raise awareness of the use and protection of water resources in the Ethnic Minority Delta, contributing to the successful implementation of the objectives of the National Target Program on socio-economic development of the Ethnic Minority Delta and mountainous areas.
