On September 12, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Saint Petersburg.

Taking place on the sidelines of a meeting of top security officials from BRICS member states, the meeting focused on border issues. Both sides discussed key issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) aimed at stabilizing and improving bilateral relations.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stressed that both sides agreed to work urgently and intensify efforts to complete the troop withdrawal in the disputed areas. Mr. Doval emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and respecting the LAC for the normalization of relations. Both sides need to fully comply with the agreements, protocols, and bilateral understandings reached between the two governments.
In addition, officials from both countries discussed global and regional issues, emphasizing the importance of the India-China relationship to both nations and the international community.
The BRICS summit is scheduled to take place in Kazan from October 22-24, with the participation of Prime Minister Modi. Earlier that same day, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Putin praised the development of the special strategic partnership between India and Russia and emphasized the importance of security issues in bilateral relations.
