On March 28, Mr. Dinh Xuan Sam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai - said that the district police are verifying information that many students of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School, Nghia Hanh district ate candy of unknown origin, after Nausea, abdominal pain, chest pain are signs of poisoning.
Information from the People's Committee of Hanh Tin Tay commune, in the last 3 days, many students of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School bought and ate a type of candy sold at a cafe in front of the school gate.
After eating this candy, the students showed signs of nausea, stomach pain, and chest tightness.
Many children were taken to the Commune Health Station for monitoring and stabilization. Particularly, 15 students with severe symptoms were transferred to Nghia Hanh District Medical Center for monitoring and treatment.
Receiving information, the police and authorities established an interdisciplinary team to inspect. As a result, it was discovered that Nhi Ka restaurant (in front of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School gate) was selling candy that students ate and then showed signs of poisoning.
Working with the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhi (36 years old, owner of Nhi Ka restaurant), said that on March 25, he bought 3 packages of candy (weight 4kg/package) of unknown origin. at Quang Ngai market for 0,5 VND/kg and sold to students. After eating, they have nausea, chest pain, and stomach pain.
From the outside, the candy is in pill form, has a colorful wrapper, but has no brand, place of production, or information related to origin.
At the time of the inspection, Mr. Nhi sold 1,2kg of candy to many students. At the shop there is only 0,8kg left.
"The district police have investigated the above candy, found the cause of poisoning and handled the people involved," said Mr. Dinh Xuan Sam, Chairman of Nghia Hanh District People's Committee.
