According to official dispatch, recently in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province) there was a collective poisoning of more than 360 people.
At the request of the Police Investigation Agency, Nha Trang Police, to create conditions for the unit to collect documents, investigate and resolve the case, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province requested the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the two departments to direct Ho Chi Minh City Laboratory Analysis Service Center performs water sample testing according to the decision to request expertise from the Nha Trang Police Investigation Agency.
Previously, after eating chicken rice at a restaurant on Ba Trieu Street, Nha Trang, a series of people with symptoms of poisoning were taken to the hospital for treatment. Khanh Hoa Department of Health issued an official dispatch to coordinate finding the cause.
According to the report, at 20:30 p.m. on March 12, Nha Trang City Medical Center received news of a number of hospitalized cases with symptoms of suspected food poisoning due to eating chicken rice. Immediately upon receiving the news, the City Food Poisoning Investigation Team went to investigate at hospitals where patients were hospitalized.
Patients have symptoms: abdominal pain, nausea, loose stools, fever, and fatigue. The cause of poisoning is still unknown.
On March 18, Nha Trang Pasteur Institute announced the results of testing food samples in a mass poisoning case after eating at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa). The Pasteur Institute said the test results showed 3 bacteria were responsible.
Through testing food samples, hand samples, water samples, and patient samples, the institute determined: onion samples were positive for Salmonella spp; vegetables (pickles) tested positive for Bacillus cereus; Hand sample of patient Le Thi Bich Lan (36 years old) tested positive for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
The remaining sample of chicken rice (rice with egg sauce and shredded chicken rice) from a patient's household purchased at 17:12 p.m. on March 3 tested positive for Salmonella spp and Bacillus cereus bacteria that produce NHE (Non-haemolytic entertoxin). non-erythrolytic enterotoxin) and HBL (Hemolysin BL is a erythrolytic toxin).
Mr. Trinh Ngoc Hiep - deputy director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health - said that from the results of Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, clearly identifying the types of bacteria will help make treatment more convenient. After clearly determining the cause of poisoning, the department will coordinate with the City Police and City People's Committee to take the next steps, including handling and sanctioning.
