On the morning of August 11th, Meo Vac District General Hospital ( Ha Giang province) announced that due to the severity of their condition, they had transferred two patients suffering from mushroom poisoning to a higher-level hospital for treatment.

Specifically, the two patients were identified as Mr. CVT (49 years old) and his daughter CTH (18 years old), residing in Niem Son commune, Meo Vac district. Previously, at around 11:30 AM on August 10th, the father and daughter ate chicken soup cooked with wild mushrooms gathered from the forest.

About two hours after eating, both showed signs of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea, and were taken to the Niem Son Commune Regional General Clinic for emergency treatment, then transferred to Meo Vac District General Hospital.

Upon examination, the two patients were diagnosed with mushroom poisoning. Doctors and nurses proceeded with gastric lavage, intravenous fluids, diuretics, laxatives, and activated charcoal treatment to detoxify the patients. By late afternoon the same day, both patients were transferred to a provincial hospital.

Notably, recently, the province of Ha Giang has experienced a series of food poisoning incidents due to consuming plants and flowers harvested from the forest.

Previously, on July 31st and August 1st, Dong Van District General Hospital (Ha Giang) also admitted 11 children aged 3 to 12 who were poisoned after eating Hong Chau fruit picked from the forest.

Most recently, on August 8th, eight people from Trung Thinh commune (Xin Man district, Ha Giang province) who were working in Chi Ca commune, Xin Man district, ate stir-fried bellflower with eggs and had to be hospitalized due to food poisoning.

Following recent cases of poisoning from eating wild plants and fruits, local authorities are stepping up efforts to raise awareness and advise people not to eat fruits and flowers from wild plants of unknown origin.
