Pressure on energy supply is increasing.

The International Energy Agency (IAEA), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) continue to warn that the current conflict in the Middle East is putting increasing pressure on global energy supplies and is having the most severe impact on vulnerable economies.

The warning was issued by leaders of various organizations at a meeting on May 29, discussing how to respond to the economic impact of the current Middle East conflict.

Reuters quoted a joint statement from the heads of the IAEA, IMF, World Bank, and WTO stating that the conflict between the US and Israel and Iran has disrupted trade, shaken financial markets, and caused particular concern about global energy supplies, especially through the Strait of Hormuz – a vital route for the world 's oil and gas transportation.
