Apple has just announced its most powerful iPad.

Apple has upgraded the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro with the M5 chip, improving graphics and AI processing.

Apple launched a new line of devices on the evening of October 15th (Vietnam time), including the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro. The biggest upgrade on these devices comes from the M5 chip, which improves AI and graphics processing capabilities.

While the MacBook Pro M5 focuses on performance upgrades, Apple decided to bring the N1 chip and C1X modem to the iPad Pro M5, demonstrating their efficiency and stability after their initial use in the iPhone Air.

The M5 chip is manufactured using a 3rd generation 3nm process. The graphics processing unit (GPU) has been improved with 10 cores, each equipped with a Neural Accelerator. This improvement increases AI performance by up to 4 times compared to the M4 chip, and 6 times compared to the M1.

According to Apple, M5 users will experience significantly faster AI task speeds, such as running image creation models in apps like Draw Things, or operating large language models (LLMs) in apps like LM Studio.

The M5's graphics performance is up to 30% better than the M4, and 2.5 times better than the M1. The chip also features third-generation ray-tracing technology, combining several technologies to enhance gaming, 3D design, and reduce graphics rendering time.

The 16-core Neural Engine on the M5 has also been upgraded, speeding up several AI generation tools like Image Playground. Apple Intelligence's overall performance is also faster thanks to its 153 GB/s memory bandwidth, 30% higher than the M4 (120 GB/s).

According to Apple, improved memory bandwidth enhances the experience on creative applications and multitasking on both MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. The company also emphasized the energy efficiency of the M5, optimizing power consumption throughout the product's lifespan.

The MacBook Pro M5 boasts the fastest CPU core.

The M5 chip is also the biggest improvement on the 14-inch MacBook Pro. According to Apple, AI processing performance is up to 3.5 times better, and graphics performance is up to 1.6 times better than its predecessor.

On the 14-inch MacBook Pro, the M5 chip also accelerates several demanding tasks such as deep learning, data modeling, and AI video enhancement. In terms of graphics, the maximum frame rate when gaming on the M5 is 1.6 times higher than on the M4.

The M5 also features 10 CPU cores. Apple calls this the " world's fastest CPU core," offering up to 20% higher performance (compared to the M4 chip) in multi-threaded tasks such as code compilation and multitasking.

“The 14-inch MacBook Pro is suitable for data analysts, those performing database queries in Python, and professionals such as product designers who frequently multitask across applications like Rhino, Notion, and Jira.”

"With a unified memory bandwidth of over 150 GB/s, users can work with large AI models on the device or manipulate multiple massive 3D scenes in graphics applications," Apple's announcement shared.

For comparison, AI-powered video performance enhancement in Topaz Video on the MacBook Pro M5 is 1.8 times better than on the M4. Meanwhile, Xcode code compilation performance is up to 1.2 times better than on the M4, and 2.1 times better than on the 13-inch MacBook Pro M1.

The SSD storage in the MacBook Pro M5 is twice as fast as the previous generation, allowing for faster access and execution of AI models. Users can choose up to 4 TB of storage, double that of the previous generation.

The MacBook Pro M5 maintains up to 24 hours of battery life compared to its predecessor, and supports fast charging, reaching 50% charge in 30 minutes with a compatible charger. The company emphasizes that performance and battery life are worthwhile improvements for users upgrading from the M1 or Intel versions.

The remaining specifications on the MacBook Pro M5 are unchanged, including a 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a maximum HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, a 12MP webcam (with Center Stage support), and the Apple Intelligence suite.

In Vietnam, the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 starts at 42 million VND for the 16GB RAM, 512GB storage version. The color options remain the same: black and silver.

Note that this is the basic MacBook Pro M5 version with a 14-inch screen. Options like the M5 Pro or M5 Max are expected to launch in early 2026. The company has also not yet announced information about a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The N1 and C1X chips are being brought to the iPad Pro.

Similar to the MacBook Pro, Apple emphasizes the AI ​​processing capabilities of the M5 chip in the iPad Pro. The company claims the device boasts "industry-leading performance."

On the iPad Pro M5, AI task processing speeds are improved by up to 3.5 times compared to the M4, and 5.6 times compared to the M1. The 16-core Neural Engine helps save energy when processing AI tasks, improving speed on Apple Intelligence.

The M5 chip's 10-core CPU consists of 4 high-performance cores and 6 energy-efficient cores. According to Apple, the M5's performance is suitable for a wide range of users, such as graphic designers, architects, or businesses that need fast data access and processing. Note that the 256GB and 512GB versions of the iPad Pro M5 only have a 9-core CPU.

In applications like Final Cut Pro, video decoding performance on the iPad Pro M5 is approximately 1.2 times faster than the M4 and 6 times faster than the M1. AI-powered image creation in Draw Things is twice as fast as the M4 and four times faster than the M1.

With a memory bandwidth of 153 GB/s, multitasking, AI processing, and gaming on the iPad Pro M5 are also smoother. In terms of RAM, the 256 GB and 512 GB versions now have 12 GB, 50% more than the previous generation. The device also supports fast charging, reaching 50% battery in 30 minutes with a compatible charger.

The next highlight of the iPad Pro M5 comes from the N1 chip and the C1X modem, developed by Apple. First appearing on the iPhone Air, the C1X offers twice the cellular network speed and saves approximately 30% more energy compared to the iPad Pro M4.

Thanks to the N1 chip, the iPad Pro M5 supports new connectivity standards such as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. According to Apple, this chip also improves stability on features like cellular Wi-Fi hotspot and AirDrop.

The iPad Pro M5 still offers two screen size options: 11 inches (5.3 mm thin) and 13 inches (5.1 mm thin), both featuring OLED panels with a 120 Hz refresh rate, nano-coating options, and a maximum HDR brightness of 1,600 nits.

The device also supports external display connections up to 120 Hz. Accessories compatible with the iPad Pro M5 remain unchanged, including the Apple Pencil Pro, Pencil USB-C, Magic Keyboard (with an added black version), and Smart Folio cover.

In Vietnam, the iPad Pro M5 starts at 30 million VND for the 11-inch version and 40 million VND for the 13-inch model. Color options include silver and black.

Apple also upgraded the Vision Pro glasses with the M5 chip, and the display supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The new version adds a Dual Knit Band, consisting of bands that wrap around the back and top of the head. The product starts at $3,500 , with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
