Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of young Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera as they look to strengthen their defense this summer.

Mosquera is reportedly agreed to join Arsenal.

According to The Athletic , the 20-year-old Spaniard is a top transfer target for manager Mikel Arteta. The deal is progressing quite positively. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano further reports that Mosquera has given Arsenal the "green light" to finalize the agreement.

Arsenal have begun negotiations with Valencia regarding a price, as Mosquera has only 12 months left on his contract. The London club sees him as an ideal backup option for key players William Saliba and Gabriel, after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.

Mosquera is the versatile defender that manager Arteta is looking for, capable of playing on the right wing and also as a full-back when needed. Meanwhile, Jakub Kiwior – who has been a reserve for over two seasons – is reportedly on his way out of Emirates. Juventus and Inter Milan are both closely monitoring the Polish center-back.

Mosquera has made a total of 90 appearances for Valencia's first team, including 41 last season. He is also a familiar face at Spain's youth levels, with 10 caps for the U21 team, including a match against England U21 at the Euro U21 finals this summer.

Arsenal have been making big signings after finishing second in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons. They have completed the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi, with the announcements to be made in the coming days. In addition, Arsenal have also reached an agreement to sign Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard for £9.3 million.

But Arsenal's ambitions don't stop there; they're also focusing on signing a quality striker. They're interested in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, but the Portuguese club is demanding no less than £85 million. Additionally, Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig is also a target for Arsenal.
