Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN), has announced a commitment to invest $230 million in startups worldwide to accelerate the development of generative AI applications.
This commitment will provide startups, especially early-stage companies, with AWS credits, coaching, and training to continue utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.
Part of this new commitment includes providing companies participating in the second round of the AWS Generative AI Accelerator program with practical expertise, and granting AWS credits of up to $1 million to each of the top 80 early-stage startups that are using generative AI to solve complex problems.
Matt Wood, Vice President of AI Generation Products at AWS, said: “For over 18 years, AWS has helped more startups form, launch, and scale their businesses than any other cloud provider. It’s no coincidence that 96% of AI/ML unicorn startups run on AWS.”
"Under this new commitment, we will help startups grow and scale into world-class businesses, providing them with what they need to create new AI applications that can impact every aspect of how the world learns, connects, and operates," Matt Wood added.
Startups can use AWS credits to access AWS computing, storage, and database technologies, as well as AWS Trainium and AWSInferentia2, energy-efficient AI chips that deliver high performance at the lowest cost.
