According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the evening and night of June 4th, the Northern region will experience moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain exceeding 130mm, and a risk of intense rainfall (>100mm/3h).
Heavy rains are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes; thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
To proactively respond to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and flooding, on the afternoon of June 4th, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense issued a document requesting the People's Committees of provinces and cities in Northern Vietnam (including Hanoi ) to proactively implement response measures.
Local authorities are closely monitoring warning and forecast bulletins regarding heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and flooding to promptly inform local authorities and the public so they can proactively take appropriate preventive measures.
Proactively review and evacuate people in high-risk areas for flash floods and landslides to safe locations; mobilize rapid response forces to review and clear blocked waterways; and have local forces ready to promptly assist people in overcoming the consequences.
The National Steering Committee for Civil Defense also requested localities to strengthen information and communication work, especially at the grassroots level, to disseminate skills in responding to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and flooding, helping people to know and proactively prevent, avoid, and minimize damage.
