When you arrive in Bac Lieu, you fall in love; when you leave, you miss it.

Unlike many places that boast majestic natural landscapes, Bac Lieu, with its unique "specialties" of warm hospitality, kindness, and distinctive culture, gently instills special feelings in visitors. In the eyes of those from afar, the homeland of the "Dạ cổ hoài lang" folk song is a place you'll fall in love with upon arrival and miss when you leave.

As a tourist from Da Nang visiting Bac Lieu for the first time, Ms. Tieu Yen felt like she was coming home. The places in Bac Lieu all felt familiar, from the legends of the Bac Lieu Prince to the melancholic and poignant melodies of Southern folk songs and traditional music. Upon entering the Bac Lieu Prince's house, the beauty of the wooden windows, the patterned tile floors, the antique ceiling fan, and the exhibition area evoked a sense of a once glorious life. She was particularly fascinated by the vivid anecdotes about "burning money to cook eggs to show off one's wealth," and especially admired the Bac Lieu Prince's actions of tearing up the tenant farmers' debt papers and distributing rice and money to the poor.

For the female tourist from the city by the Han River, the most serene moment was perhaps strolling leisurely through the grounds of the Southern Vietnamese Traditional Music and Cao Van Lau Memorial Area, where the poignant melody of "Da Co Hoai Lang" resonated deeply. Although she was from Central Vietnam and didn't grow up listening to the zither, hearing the vong co (traditional Vietnamese folk song) in Bac Lieu made her understand why the people of the Mekong Delta cherish that song so much. It was simple, heartfelt, and full of emotion, just like the people who live in this land.

When asked what impressed her most during her trip to Bac Lieu, Ms. Yen said it was the Hoa Binh 1 wind farm in Vinh Hau A commune (Hoa Binh district). She considered it not only a beautiful check-in spot with giant turbine towers rising from the sea, but also a symbol of Bac Lieu's aspiration for progress.

Ms. Yen shared her thoughts: “The tourist attractions show that Bac Lieu, in addition to preserving its ancient cultural values, has been a strong pioneer in green transformation and sustainable development. I thought I would only come here to sightsee, but it turned out I received much more than that. It is a land with cultural depth, warm hospitality, and dreams being nurtured by clean energy. For me, Bac Lieu is not just a destination, but a place to remember, a place to return to someday soon.”

It's not just tourists; travel agencies surveying and researching products to develop tours also have many positive impressions of Bac Lieu. The intoxicating aroma of longan fruit during the ripening season, the salt with its salty, alluvial flavor but sweet aftertaste, or the delicious banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake), the spicy beef noodle soup with its rich flavor... all of Bac Lieu's dishes have made countless visitors from afar yearn for it whenever they think of it.

Soon, Bac Lieu will merge with Ca Mau to create a new future. Although the name Bac Lieu province may no longer appear on the map of provincial-level administrative units, we believe that the land and people of Bac Lieu will forever remain in the hearts of our friends.
